A bit of a longer video today in a more neutral, informative style. I feel as if I needed to get this information across in a video but didn't want to lose any of the great work Potetr invested into the main document that can be found in the description. What do you think? Is the Battlefield franchise looking to do too many things at once? Are DICE focusing on what is important and bringing the key ingredients together?

Hey art you should look into the desert tech weapons like videos and stuff, desert tech weapons are really nice, I don't know how many people like researching guns but the MDR (micro dynamic rifle) is really cool, and the other models of weapons they have are amazing.

Less is more, my favorite Battlefield game was Battlfield Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2 a close second these games were so simple and so much fun to play nowadays there is too much parkour in the games where you can just jump away from the enemy and vaulting has gotten so out of hand these newer Battlefield games feels like Overwatch or some shit like that. I like how in BFBC2 you felt heavier and couldn´t just jump away from enemy fire or vault through a window in a split second you had to break the window and then jump through with crouch and jump not an instant vaulting animation. Btw: I can´t really overstate how much I hate parkour (as I call it) in modern games it makes the games too fast paced and doesn´t feel like the Battlefield games I grew up playing (BF2,BFC2, BF3) It´s ironic that these 3 BF games I just mentioned is considered the best in the franchise and after BF4 they started with the fast paced gameplay where you can jump away from incoming fire as is seen many times in this video so maybe the previous Battlefield games were so good because they were slower paced games. And of course with customizations less is truly more if you look at BFBC2 as you mentioned there are way less customizations to chose from and you can clearly feel the difference you couldn´t have everything like you could choose if you want more ammo or a dot sight there was also fewer weapons to choose from but you could clearly feel the difference between them where as in newer BF games you can´t really feel that much of a difference and there are actually too much to choose from in terms of weapons and customization so it gets so confusing and it feels like it doesn´t really matter what you put on your guns because the effects are pretty insignificant like why do we need 4 different supressors and several grips for rifles in BF4 I can´t really feel much difference if any in any of them in BFBC4 you could feel a difference because you had to trade other equipment so it made a for a slightly different experience in using the weapons.

What's everyone's opinion on BF revive mechanics? BFBC2 and BF2 - one click, revive nonstop no matter what BF3 - one click, you can revive as long as they didn't die without accepting the revive BF4 - one click 20%, one loooong click 100%, cooldown that prevents you from reviving again if they die after being revived BF1 - one click, cooldown that prevents you from reviving again if they die after being revived BF5 - one long ass animation that often ends up with both players dying In my opinion one of the core things that made BF3 great was its revive mechanics. Sure, they were OP but they made the game more fun. People were more willing to take risks while pushing since they would very likely get revived over and over again. That also means that you would spend more time playing the game than watch the spawn screen. In newer BFs it often feels like you have only one life as people don't either revive you (BF1 not that many play medics, BF4 broken revive mechanics) or you die instantly after revive and can't be revived again. For next BF I'd like to see BF3 or BF1 revive mechanics for medics and BF5 revive animations as squad revive.
@Copkiller1997
@Copkiller1997 5 жыл бұрын
Many times when reviving you risk your life even with a single click you have to give up your hunt for kills to save some stranger so with 100 points per revive it´s actually worth doing it whereas getting 20 points for a quick revive to be a good mate but not wanting to risk dying to revive full is just not worth it it´s like a risk rewards thing.

Yes battlefield is looking to do to many things at once. Some of the things they're adding like manual leaning is amazing, I love it, it added a new spin on the gameplay and allows me to do better because half my body isnt exposed when shooting an enemy around the corner. The leaning also adds a skill curve for others that dont know how to combat that and forces them into learning a new tactic. However with all the new maps they add none of them really take advantage of this lean and add alleys that would be perfect for this improvement and instead they focus on more open maps where you can get sniped from spawn. I would love to see more actual city maps instead of country side citys

@PUPPET MASTER I've played loads of BFBC especially 2, but I simply think the way they played out was just simply the way Frostbite handled gameplay at the time, like the way players would hold their weapons, animations, and number of vehicles are just a consequence of the time.

@Undersnow243

Wtf, Battlefield Franchise is known for that, for these details (often animation and graphics) that make the game immersive with choices to do. If you just run like a tard and revive evrything around you within 1 second of delay and getting 100 points while the other guys is struggling to get 100 points with kills then it aint fair and balanced at all IMO. In this bf5 u can revive everything with any characters but you have to do the right choice to not die like like a tard because of the animation. Same for tank animation, if u really want to go in that tank you go but you can't get out like a coward when it gets messy. it's a matter of choice it adds difficulty to the gameplay and brain before each action. Otherwise go play other real fast paced fps ffs. I personally find that BF is getting better and better in term of gameplay since the very first battlefields games, along with the graphics(except TAA). It adds more and more thinking than just revive and shoot like a tard. You people always complaining for nothing because its trendy lmao.. You were crying at the start of bf4 too and now its the best ever, go buy some credibility, its becoming pathetic for real.

Ayyy talking about Team Fortress 2, game's dope. Anyway, just give us the liberty of gameplay that Battlefield 4 offered. That's why people come back, you're allowed to basically do whatever you could ask from a game when it came out, and not a lot of games allow that anymore. Squad play was insanely efficient, 4 medics 1 support suppressing the windows on Pearl Market for the medics to cross the street will always be in my heart. Map design was very good, not everything could be destroyed and that's something which isn't quite balanced anymore on Battlefield V. Rocket launchers are too environementally destructive. Battlefield 4 also had the customization, perfectly developed for 2013. Hope DICE looks at what Modern Warfare does and remixes what they've done with the past games when it comes to this point. Animations... Why in the bloody hell would you allow player models to fall from an explosion without dying. In any multiplayer game, when you fall to the ground, you're dead. In BFV, you can use that to look dead and actually flank inattentive people. Tumbling at the end of a "high" jump is also not very recommended. Vault animations are good and they are needed, medium/high wall vaults, fence vaults, but they need to be more consistent as well. Got a lot to say still but it's already long enough. tl;dr : Give us BF4's gun play, improve the gameplay, and make the head hitboxes 10% maximum bigger.

In the abstract sense, If you grant players ( and vehicles) too much freedom in customization and utility, the overlap of classes (vehicles) will increase and players will tend to use what they want personally and not what is needed. I think this overlap should be reduced and further pushed to the extremes to diversify classes even more, whatever that means gameplay wise (Loadouts, mobility, recoil, damage, not 10 tanks that do pretty much the same thing, but 3 very different tanks). This could lead to a self regulated team play, which is unknown to "lonewofs". They can do their own thing, but the things they can do is limited for that class and will unavoidably help your team in some way. A different view of depth is mechanics that give rise to emergent gameplay, or in another wording, simple mechanics that can be applied across a wide variety of circumstances, I would say that this is also a form of complexity, not unlike simple atoms forming complex emergent structures, but we need to agree on definitions here. Mechanics that are limited to particular gameplay scenarios are "anti-emergent" and im not sure it is a bad thing. I think class utility is a form of anti emergency, atleast it shouldnt overlap to other classes and vehicles, but the interplay between classes should be very emergent weather intentionally (teamplay) or not (lone wolf). Its like thermodynamics, its between order and chaos interesting and complex things happen. I think weapon mechanics should use more parameters as to increase the space available for balancing, diversity, specialization and real player skill progression. Random Bullet spread amount, recoil amount * random or predictable recoil patterns, auto centering amount, damage, weight, ADS time, sway, screen effects, shake n blur and its cooldown time. For example, a sniper should have high damage (1 hit kill close>medium range) slow ads time, almost no Random bullet spread, no Auto centering, high recoil amount * predictable recoil pattern, heavy, screen shake. wheres an SMG is pretty much the opposite: Weak, fast ADS time, light, good autocentering, some amount of random bullet spread, low random and predictable recoil, no shake etc.

I know that noone has played it, but in Battlefield modern combat 2 on the consoles, Clan matches on capture the flag were THE most intense, engaging, and fun I have ever had playing a game, and it was as simple as can be. And I have been hoping that battlefield would recreate that ever since. They have done a lot of great thing since thin with the series, but depth of play is definitely something BFV struggles with. Too many opportunities to be picked off with zero counters due to game meta or design.

Great take on games mate. A mate I play with gets a new gun, then raves about getting all the gold attachments. Personally, all I want to do is Win games, Kill people and have Fun. Sadly BFV, just isn't delivering the fun aspect I crave.

The only thing BFV got right it's the Squad leader system (I'm mean collecting points to call V1 or things like that). Sure it's need rework since I want Commander mode to be back on the next installament but it's a addition I like to see back in BF 2020

To me the biggest issue with BF5 is balance . Weapons, classes, maps etc. there seems to be a lack of immersion to get players to pick up different classes for instance and influence the outcome of matches. Gosh I hope that made sense lol! I’ve always enjoyed using all the different weapons and classes in BF games but 5 I feel limited . I’m an average player and like to move around so I’ve never been a sniper type who can sit still. Anyway great video! Very thought provoking!!

Atmosphere is very important,especially in a war game. I sense the war like atmosphere in bf3/4 on the medium to large maps with all out armour combat with the troops running beside them making their way to am objective. I don't get that vibe with recent bfs.

I always enjoy your content. I agree with you at times and at other times I disagree with you, but your content is always on point which I never disagree on. My only question is why in G-D's name do other KZbinrs that have high production value but very poor and predictable content have a massive following where you, on the other hand, have superior content and a fraction of the following??

I gave an opinion on one of Jackfrag's videos but got no feedback on it, so i will write the most two important things. 1 make it free to play 2 you only pay money for premium pass and for your character like buying uniforms, skins for guns, skins for tanks, helicopters, ships, ect ect. But my comment was way longer than this but these are the most important in my opinion.

If you wan't my opinion, they should consider returning back to the Battlefield 4 class customization. But with the classes of Battlefield 1 and 5 - Assault, Medic, Support, Recon. Though, i'd like to change the Recon into Specialist instead, a Scout/Engineer hybrid. For the field specialization they should be the same as in battlefield 4, but available to full extent (Without the unneeded field upgrade mechanic, that keeps randomly upgrading/degrading), though, Battlefield 1 field specialization mechanics could also work, since I know that it gives you more freedom in terms of customization. Another thing that I personally ask from the developers, better singleplayer content.

My two cents, a Battlefield game cannot be as restrictive as BF1 and BFV were, they totally lost the sandbox and rock-paper-scissors gameplay. Give the player the creative tools (weapons, gadgets, physics and vehicles) to do what they want. Let them think outside the box and let them use these creative tools and don't let realism get in the way - the more realistic you make it (like animations for every goddamn thing), the less fun it will be. Just look at the creative stuff Pony Lion and his crew were able to pull off back in the day - launching a tank into the air using mines and C4 and roadkilling a jet. Rendezooks. Parking a boat on a jet and flying with it through the air. Surfing on your jet while throwing C4 down. THAT's the spirit! To me a Battlefield moment means being surprised by the randomness that can happen with the interplay of goofy physics, vehicles, destruction and that little bit of luck/bad luck.

I'm not a Battlefield V basher. I have my concerns but as a general rule I still love the basic mechanics behind BFV. I've reinstalled BF4 and BF1 this week as I've had some time to myself and frankly, BFV as a gaming experience is a completely different level to BF1 and superior to BF4 (at least as an infantry player, tanks are terrible in BFV) . Where it falls down is in design decisions that they've made. The content with BFV is very vanilla and very under-designed. There is no immersion and the lack of ongoing content releases is the major problem. If DICE can have the game mechanics and gun play on top of a BF4 model of content then we're close to the perfect Battlefield game. Oh and make firing from a prone position much much restrictive too. (I also appreciate that everyone's experience with a game is different. I've not had the technical problems some have had bar a bit of stuttering which is annoying but not a gamebreaker).

Their focus is so heavy on monetizing soldier customization I just dont know if we'll ever get the franchise back. The things that we used to unlock by playing are now all purchased by some shit game currency based on time played rather than how you play. I hope they find their way back but I'm not holding my breath hah. Also really hope the medic revive goes back to something that is manually done and not by lining up the prompt on screen with the right button. That's fine for squad revives but medics deserve better instead of fighting with the UI and the game itself to get those hot revives in.

Maybe something worthwile considering: don't release a BF game every 3 years or so but take a bit more time to create a new game and meanwhile drop new content which is worth it in current game. In that way you can also use your time to release a product which is good in stead of needing to patch all the time to set things straight. The guys at Rockstar have understood that. Look at GTA IV, a very old game by modern release standards but it's still well supported and played by a decent player base.

So he talk about having an ability to counterplay and why it makes BF4 so much better, yet there is suppression in that game? So if someone starts spraying you with a ton of bullets without hitting anything, what option do you have? Thats right - Run. In BF5 however if someone starts shooting you and you know that you can use your skill and kill that person, suddenly you have 2 option - Put your skill on the line and try fighting back, or just take a safe route and run away.

I personally hope that the next battlefield game is pushed off for another year. DICE needs to give battlefield V the same treatment as bf1 and bf4, and support the game until the very end. what would it show if DICE were to just give up on bfv and their first live service? I dont think there will be enough of a player base left to even fully enjoy the next battlefield game.
