So many times I'm laying there prone and a bunch of enemies just run by...or I get gunned down by an enemy with all grey camo lying on top of all grey rocks, rather frustrating. @@floodrunner_2042 but is not the main way of acquiring targets anymore. In the other BF games, mostly players were running around targeting little floating triangles (which I have nothing against). But I strongly believe that the removal of the spotting system limited the artistic aspect of BFV because without the triangles you can't see anyone on the map. That was a big complaint by the community.

@@manuelcosta3166 I rarely ever get killed by an unspotted enemy directly in front of me that I couldn't see due to blending in to the environment in any other BF game other than BFV and very rarely in BF1. It has nothing to do with spotting. Spotting will help you notice enemies in your peripheral vision and far off in the distance and it definitely helps with tracking when things are hectic but it was never intended as a visibility crutch due to graphics. It was designed as a teamwork mechanic for large playercounts where voice call-outs would be unreasonable. Also hardcore mode on BF3, 4, and 1 is very playable visibility-wise while BFV is physically bad for your eyes to play.

Good point Lea. BF1 had Dolby Atmos sound quality whereas BFV does not. That makes a huge difference if you have a really nice Dolby Atmos surround sound system.

It's an old animation trick(see every Pixar movie since toy story 1, also heavily used in CGI) that takes the lighting in the game, and bounces it off surfaces. That's it. It could use ANY lighting at all, doesn't matter if it's good, or if it sucks, like the lighting in battlefield v does. The only reason it's being called "new" is because they just figured out how to do it in real time. By eliminating 90% of the data points and cheating lol. It takes HOURS for super computers to render a few seconds of video using true ray tracing. Go take a photography course then go play all the games. The difference is immediately noticable.

This is what the general gaming community sufferers, they think they need to follow the trend just for the sake of “keeping up with the times”. If the game is garbage then why even bother playing whether it be old or new. If the old games werrr way better, then keep playing them, no need to leave because “dice decided to not support them”. The only thing that lacks BF3 is the voice comms, other than that it is a bad ass game. So in my honest opinion BF3 is the all time best Battlefield and I will keep on playing it as long as there are servers available.

For me BF3 without blue tint looks somehow "tropical" on the open maps. But this I think takes away the gritty feeling. So the blue tint may be a good thing since BFV lacks the atmosphere and maybe also the colour palette of BF3 and 4. And I have to say that the player models with their brass cufflinks in BF1 were just the best playermodels ever seen. The uniforms of the soldiers are just incredible. I dont know if they are authentic but they jumped right into the eye.

BF3 and BF1 hit that mark of making the graphics align with the setting to make it feel like you were in said timeline/setting. BF4 may not have had that but it did have that sandbox feel of freedom and in BF4 you always had something new to do/unlock. BFV is a joke. DICE/EA used the name in hopes that people would buy the game because it has the name Battlefield on it and tried their damn hardest to monetize the fuck out of it. BFV does bot feel like a WW2 shooter and if it wasnt for the guns, you wouldn’t even be able to tell what era you were in.

Bf1 cause it really gives you that feeling as if you are in ww1 and the destruction and the airships and how the map changes over time is amazing to see. It’s also got a great campaign especially with the storm of steel opening scene really setting the vibes for the game. Operations were really fun and the map layouts were really good. Also there is tons of small details that make the game that much more realistic, like ur gun getting covered in mud and shockwaves of grenades, bayonet charges, reload animations, and certain things like ice breaking on your feet in nivell nights, and what’s going on in the background of the map like burning forests and scout blimps and you can even see fake soldiers running into combat outside of your combat zone. All this just makes it feel like a true ww1 experience especially with hud off. Edited because auto correct 😂

Battlefield 5 has much better gameplay than BF1 imo. I really dislike the fact when you directly aim at someone the random bullet deviation still can make you miss multiple times in a row. It's not fun to be dependent on RNG. The maps in BF5 aren't as good though. After watching the whole video, I think you are just whining tbh. BF5 has by far the best animations and graphics. You really pick bad clips (like the tower you can't blow up) which there are a dozen of in other BF games too, but you almost only showed cinematic animations from those games. There is a shitload wrong with BF5, but gameplay and graphics are not one of them.

Wild Woody Actually, I think bfv’s map design (visually) is better than any other battlefield. In other battlefields many maps feels like a scaled representation instead of an actual battlefield This is especially true for BF1 as you can go from no man’s land to green fields in the matter of few hundred meters while trench systems have merely 1or 2 lines + few bunkers. While in BFV maps feel like being directly cropped out of real life. Like the small river between A and B on Arras, or the small town near C on Twisted Steel really feels like French countryside with realistic vegetation and road setup. Not to mention the more natural destructions on Devastation where building are collapsed in unpredictable ways and debris are pilled up organically (Looking at you Amiens with copy-pasted ruins and polygonal debris piles) Overall I think people are either just so caught up in the circljerking so they can’t find any positivity about the game or they just want to talk shit about the game.

The blue filter of bf3 looks great. For a game to look good and feel realistic you dont need to make the colours to appear like in real life. Most of your favourite hollywood movies you wouldn't want to watch without the colour filter they often have. Battlefield 3 was a masterpiece and in my view the overall best game in the franchise. I like certain aspects of bf1 too but it was just not my type of game and setting. After Bf5, which I didn't bought to this day to show my protest, I think the franchise needs a fresh restart. I would like to see the new battlfield in a modern setting and to feel mature again. Because after all Battlefield is war game and dont need to adapt new trendy pubg or fortnite style features.

Don't think any game can quite compete with the feeling you'd get when you and your whole team charge off the edge of the helipad on Damavand Peak in bf3. Gave me goosebumps just watching it. That was a special game

Yeah, I agree BF3's graphics have something special to them. Started playing it again and I must say even the sound effects from guns and what naught even sound much better and more intense than BFV to me. I like BFV but it doesn't give me the same feeling as BF3....probably nostalgia might be part of it as well...

Great vid. For me its BF1. It looks stunning a each map captures that gritty, dirty feeling. You can almost smell war, I think they did a great job there. Sometimes, playing BFV feels like WW2 set on a Florida beach, just a flat atmosphere with happy sunshine and crystal water. Sure I get that would be the case from time to time but most of the time it feels like playing in Teletubby land (with the exception of Devastation) Now I know it's off topic, but where is Al Sundan? Nowhere to be seen, the 2 infantry maps that are due are a lazy hash of Firestorm map, the next update is delayed again and 5v5 cancelled. It's a joke and getting insulting now. I'd even go as far to say if anyone wanted to persue it, you could likely sue DICE and EA for false advertising. This on top of all the other bugs and issues has worn me down, I find myself talking myself out of playing the game. I'm back to BF1 until the new COD is released which I've pre ordered. Never thought I'd see the day lol

Bad Company 2- looks good and for its time it looked great BF3- Looked amazing in 2011 and still holds up pretty well BF4- Looks fine, the graphics looked washed out and saturated in some areas when compared to its predecessor BFH- The graphical style in this game kinda reminds me of BF3 which is a good thing BF1-Looked great at launch, still one of the prettier games that have been released in the last 3 years. BFV-I have mixed feelings, Battlefield V looks and feels like a cheaper version of battlefield 1. I also hate the revive animations, it just really slows down the whole flow of the gameplay and the map designs are surprisingly unremarkable.

I think what dice was going for In V was something in-between videogamey and hyper-real which is exactly what BFV was, an extension of what BF1 was trying to achieve but without the greyscaling filters other than maybe the occasional blue filter on one or two maps, TLDR, it was the final amalgamation of what a Battlefield game is at its core in terms of what its trying to do and I think they nailed it spot on. The destruction in Five was Turned up to 11 which I Adore, because now destruction is not a set path you can destroy any part of the building with an explosion unlike in 3 and 4 the destruction is essentially a preset. In five it also depended on what explosive was used that depended on how much penetration it got, so if a 200mm rocket hit a house, it would either be eviscerated off the map or it would be half of it gone which didn't really happen before, before it depended on what objects it hit that caused a hole in the wall so do speak, it was all relative to an are where in Five it was relative to the explosives magnitude which helped the gamer feel more real. Fortifications could also be built on destroyed parts of buildings if the building was still standing, Something gone in 2042 and probably will never come back BFV also improved on vehicle combat from BF4 since BF1 didn't really improve on it much and was more of a downgrade. The Weapons also has a really nice attention to detail which was carried over from BF1 and was scaled up from that game.

Battlefield 3 was my first entry into the Battlefield series. Still holds some of my top 20 gaming moments in 28+ years of gaming. I loved it. Maps were big, but not too big (BF4 was too large IMHO), the mix of urban combat and field combat was very nice (once again, never too open, never too crowded), and the sounds were amazing. I had never played a game like it.

You can’t expect graphics to improve very much when things like particle effects and destruction drastically improve. Those types of things put serious stress on the engine. BFV looks incredibly good for the amount of interaction the player has with the environment itself.
