Hi, Do you think we will have additional BIM dimensions in the future (more than 7 dimensions)?
@mohamadabouali99224 жыл бұрын
Hi. Surely, yes. For example, healthcare facilities buildings (e.g. hospitals) could have other dimensions, such as being built based on the application of a specific facility guideline (e.g. FGI, HBN/HTM, AusHFG, iHFG, …etc.) or according to the requirements of an accreditation authority (e.g. JC, JCI, HAS,...etc.).

BIM is an intelligent based-model process. To what degree, do you consider BIM truly intelligent or smart? Thanks🙏🏻

Hi, Roy. BIM is fairly smart or intelligence. The current application of artificial intelligence (AI) is reflected through many BIM features and scopes. This is revealed through BIM scopes: 4D clash detection, 5D cost estimation and prediction, 6D enhancement of building sustainability ( energy saving generally and many other savings), and 7D facility management and its connection to hospital systems (BMS, HVAC, Asset tracking, CCTV, Electrical System, CMMS...etc.). Geographic Information System (GIS) and the integration with BIM will create other dimensions and improve the level of intelligence of BIM. For example, as I have mentioned in the first video "Introduction To The Hospital Design", hospital should be build based on the requirements and recommendations of national or international healthcare facility guidelines and accreditation authority. The addition of location through GIS could help in the automatic recognition and application of these regulations, laws and standards. For example, in USA, the location will determine automatically which healthcare facility guideline (e.g. FGI, VA...etc.) or accreditation should be applied. In UK, the automatic application HBN and HTM will be applied. In Australia, the AusHFI will be applied. This will remove a lot of obstacles and facilitate the mission of owners during the commissioning phase and operational life to gain national and international approvals. Moreover, when the addition of locations could help to enhance the simulation and prediction of BIM scopes (3D, 4D, 5D, 6D & 7D). I have witnessed a lot of errors in hospital design because designers haven't taken into account the number of population, types of diseases in specific area of location, weather changes during the year, possibility of earthquakes or rain floods, public access and other points. These could be achieved better through AI application with considering the location. Even, I expect in the future the replacement of designers, architects, and other engineers with highly smart BIM or other models in the hospital planning, programming and design. Finally, thanks Roy for your interesting question and I hope I had answered it.
