How can this have only 34K views? Seems I've watched it almost that many times... Remarkable. The beauty and sweeping elegance. I think my heartbeat tunes to the early music, and then the emotion crests with the latter. What a fine rendering. I'm 68, still fly, 45 years now. This is the best I've seen. I feel stunned after each viewing. Thank you.

Where history of the sport is well founded many decades ago. Where the sands & training winds of Dillon Beach transferred into expeditions @ Big Sur. Where glides & soars above the trees towards the ocean below enticed if not for the scenery. Where the after-flight parties climaxed the day(s). Thank you for the vid.

WOW beautiful film. I was lucky enough to have flown that site once. It was winter 2009 while on our way to Morro Bay. we pulled into the campground the night before and woke up to a gentle 5 -6knt perfect breeze. We flew and then continued our way to Morro Bay. An Absolute beautiful magic carpet ride flight. Wish I was there again but age and sore bones have gotten the best of me.

I can't afford to fly, not just yet. But I'm working on it. So your beautiful productions at least fuel the images I dream of when I sleep and also the goals I have when awake. Not sure why I haven't been here berfore!? Looks like a great place to enjoy some soaring. Certainly has the scenery to make the fligt worth while. Anybody ever see a California Condor in that area, as its a known habitat? I saw one while flying Crestline Park, in San Bernardino at just over 10K ft., while flying over Lake Arrowhead. Sight of a lifetime.

Speed ranges from about 18 mph to 70+ mph. The camera motion creates the illusion of a lot more speed then there is in this video.

I used to fly a WW Harrier in the ‘80s, until I caught rotor wash and got slammed to earth. I couldn’t afford to fix the glider and sold it to an instructor for $500. I miss those days.
@Vl72483 жыл бұрын
I still fly harriers today. Great glider.
@tonyfuell20875 жыл бұрын
Visually very beautiful, how could it fail to be with that stunning scenery? BUT - and it’s a big but - watching hang gliders float round in smooth ridge lift at a coastal site isn’t where it’s at these days. In any competitive hang gliding event these days it is common for tasks of up to 200 kilometers to be set - and completed - by pilots flying away from the hills and using thermals. Much more interesting flying IMHO.
@imagrasshopper9510 Жыл бұрын
Wonderful photography, scenery and perspective, nice editing, cool audio, and excellent form and flying skills render a demonstration of the beauty and art of HG, free flight, and aviation in general, in the most basic and raw form. Anyone who can't appreciate the beauty of this film is missing a lot. XC comps are great. They test and inspire pilots and encourage new technology and skills. Those activities aren't easily accessible to the average recreational pilot. Unfortunately, the exclusive nature of that type of flying has been an obstacle to some degree to building the sport by pushing out or discouraging beginner or novice pilots. Remember when a Mechanics Illustrated mag and some tools and materials were enough to get you in the air? Everybody wanted to fly, and HG exploded. Enjoy your XC flying, but also consider finding a young pilot, mentoring them and help grow the sport at other levels.
