Acrylic Pour with Strings and A Cookie Cutter

For this pouring project I used an 11 x 14 canvas. I poured Apple Barrel Foliage Green, Fountain Blue, Apple Barrel Territorial Beige - as a dirty pour. For the cross I used metallic antique gold and chocolate bar. Mix 1 part paint to 2 parts Floetrol (different mediums may needed to be mixed differently). Since I did not care for all the stripes in the upper part of the canvas - I altered some true blue and the metallic antique gold and poured over them! I was super happy with the results. I dipped my cotton strings in some white (also mixed with Floetrol) to create my flowers, aka Easter Lillies. The cross was just a regular cookie cutter. I let the first pour sit for about 20 minutes before adding the cross. I then let that sit for about 30 minutes. I was happily pleased with the results!

Your video came across my feed. If you'd like to try CC again, there is a medium called texture paste. It comes as white, but you can tint it. A lot of people use it to give acrylic pieces texture underneath the painting. It would keep its shape and add a bit of dimemsion. 😊

hi jinx is that an impasto paste? I use that in my very fluid acrylic paint which is more like ink but in more beautiful and contrasting colours. You can also just use the fluid paint on Yupo paper.

I’ve always loved the string pull technique and watching it with pours has demystified it considerably. Thank you. The flowers you created also look to me a little like daffodils, I wonder how they would look in yellow. The cookie cutter is a technique I haven’t seen before. What if you added it after the rest of the painting was dry or doing it just like you did here but once the whole painting was dry you drew an outline with a paint pen or a small detail brush? It’s beautiful please don’t get me wrong just my mathematical mind trying to order things. Lol

Myriam's Nature has used cookie cutters (CC) with acrylic pours. She made notches in some so that paint flows out the bottom. But I noticed the CC shape remains somewhat and I've been wanting to try that myself with other shapes (which you've done here). You're giving me the courage to try. Also don't think I have seen the string pour over wet(ish) paint. Nice effect. Kudos!
