@@grohl666 quick question I can’t unsee the shadow of 4x4 squared in the design is that the main inspiration for it? due to height & wheel size/fender gap is what pulls it into 4x4 squared territory for me which I like even more my MB set is arriving today beyond excited to step into technic building.
@grohl666Ай бұрын
@@taylortaylor4985 I wanted to do really extreme suspension travel which resulted in bigger gaps between the wheels and arches and I wanted to have the wheels slightly bigger than on the real car. If you keep them exactly in scale, they tend to look small-ish on a LEGO model.

I hope I can get this model eventually just to study the internal engineering you came up with for the gear box, the shaft and all their connections, beside its cool looks. Just finished building this. Very nice build overall. The gearbox is not as complex as that in the Defender, which is a good thing as it runs a lot more smoothly. The optional pro/expedition kit is a great idea. I also like that it both has a solid and an independent axle. Steering is a little bit wobbly and the rear springs should be a little softer imo. I usually don't buy sets having more than 2500 pieces but sometimes I make exceptions. It will now join my Defender, Mack Anthem and Zetros. And I totally agree that existing pieces should be used whenever possible. That's what I love about Technic. There's no need to introduce new special pieces all the time.

I wanted to write something when I had completely finished the set, but I've just finished bag 15 and I just had to say how awesome this set is! The chassis is extremely well designed and very strong and sturdy, almost all axles of the gearbox are secured by different techniques so you don't have to worry they will fall out from rough usage (driving fast, using the gearbox selectors lots of times). I swear i can throw the chassis of my balcony and it will be fine! The gearbox with the hi-lo, center-difflock, DNR and the rear axle difflock are very cool to build and easy to use. Suspension is sturdy, well designed and realistic as well. Also the Ackermann steering! The bodywork is great as well too, the doors look amazing and are fun to build (and those cute little doorhandles!) The angles of the hood are very nicely done and that big grill is very cool, also thumbs up for brick-build details instead of depending on stickers. You can also choose to not apply any sticker and the set will not look any different. I still need to build the backside, rear door and the roof, but I can already say this is one of the best Technic cars I've build. And that color is really something else in real life! Videos and pictures don't do it justice. I've also build the Land Rover Defender, but this set is so much better!

Haven’t built the 2 newer ones, but I suspect even if I had my vote would still go to the Extreme Adventure truck. It’s a really unique look, and it has some additional functions. I’m always impressed by the functionality of Technic models of real vehicles, but I just don’t care that they are modeling a real vehicle. 🤷♀️ And in the case of cars/trucks, that functionality is almost always steering, transmission, suspension, opening doors/hood, and maybe one more thing. I absolutely love the Lego Space Technic sets from this year, that give us a similar level of functionality [as similar-priced Technic sets], some really interesting build techniques, but are also really unique looking. So I’ll take the truck with lots of functions that isn’t trying to model a particular real-world vehicle, or is more “concept vehicle” or even scifi vehicle, over the really impressively accurate model of a real-world truck whose functions basically boil down to drivetrain and opening doors. That said, I’m really impressed with how well you’ve designed this one. Particularly the tight gaps for the opening doors, and the really interesting drivetrain. I’d love to see you bring that level of attention to detail and complex engineering to a design I’d never see in real life, in a future set.

I still really like the sort of rawness of the 42069 Extreme Adventure not to forget it had a great B-Model. I also did love building of the Defender as it was a great learning and "aha" experience. While I will buy the G 500 for sure I'm not 100% sold on the reddish orange tbh. Great thing is that there are not 1million blue pins visible when looked at from the outside and that the sticker sheet is not that big. :) For a B-Model a Unimog is of course great, but also some sort of Mercedes themed Space Rover/Vehicle would be a great use of the space orange!

If I understand the gearbox it correctly, the engine will go to the hi-lo switch first, then both of its output will go the DNR switch. I thought the engine would go to the DNR first, then only the output of drive would go to the hi-lo switch. At least that's how it is in the Land Rover.
