Hi Taylor, I will admit to watching hundreds of KZbin tutorials and this is one of, if not the best one I have seen. The sound is great, the work flow is easy to follow, your explanations are comprehensive without being redundant (seriously, millions of you tubers apparently don't know you can rewind the video and feel it's necessary to say the same thing multiple times) I haven't yet looked but I'm hoping you have made hundreds of these videos, either way I'm subscribed. Cheers Shawn

Wow This video was incredible! I've been using 360 for a week now and have managed to figure out through trial and error how to make most of the stuff I wanted to but always had the feeling that there was likely a much easier way to get the same result. This video showed me so many good tools to do that. I didn't realize the power of the timeline to go back and make edits then jump back to where you were with those changes applied... so cool. and the dimensioning tool for sketches!!!! very excited to use that. I had been making construction lines everywhere to get the same result. Oh the pattern tool you magnificent little devil, I spent the better part of an hour drawing rectangles to make a 100 slotted vent the other day, if only I knew. Anyways this was a very well made video, I appreciated the "mistake" corrections to demonstrate the power of the program.

Taylor, stumbled upon this clip and whole hardheartedly agree with many of the other comments. Well done, fluid, very educational and best of all, not lots of dramatics. I actually learned a few new concepts going through this. The biggest issue I had, and certainly not any fault of yours is that the interface has changed since you did this that not all is the same. I also noticed that many of the comments are years old, so hopefully this post will help. I was able to finally get over the few issues (between versions) and complete the project. There are a few issues that I noticed, and again something I (or others) can resolve. My guess is that since you did this, the Nano board has changed somewhat as the downloaded model had a few issues, first off the power-plug does not extend enough to go through the sidewall. The fix was easy, I simply extruded that element. Next is that the slots for access to the rails extend into the posts. Again, and easy fix. So, thanks again for a great project and new tips and tricks.

Great video but could use more explanation or make another video on the joint operation with the arduino. I had to break the link on the arduino component, make a rigid body, move, then do the joint. If I did these steps in any other order or omitted any step in any order the joint would only move the pcb and all other components would not stay together as a rigid body. Also, around 11:20, the projection and offset steps took me over 4 hours to figure out and was never able to do an extrude to the inside of the shell. No matter what I did I could not get the projection to be a connected rectangle, just line segments, then the offset would only see the individual line segments and not a rectangle, I had to make a rectangle construction line and do the offset from the construction rectangle. Then trying the extrude on the same step I could not extrude "to object". I would get an error, "tool body creation failed, extent Boolean fail. The termination entity might be not fully intersected with the tool body built along the operation direction." I thought it might have something to do with the offset plane in which the projection and sketch was placed and tried the previous steps without the offset plane with the same results. The joint step and the projection/extrusion step were absolutely maddening and discouraged me from using fusion 360. I have been successfully using it for simple designs and a 3d printer but if you can't do a projection and extrusion in under 4 hours of frustration it is hard to continue trying to use the same tool.

I'm really struggling with the Arduino alignment. I've imported a model which appears to be a group of components. I can break the link but then I'm not sure what to do, how do you make it a rigid body and align it?
@JoseDuran-qq9nv7 жыл бұрын
I am new to Fusion 360, but I have been able to pick up somethings here an there. I am not sure if you have completed the Arduino enclosure, but if not this might help you to complete or in future projects. Once the arduino is imported, make it a rigid shape. Then create a joint with one of the pins and rotate it to align it with the other pins. After just click okay on the menu that appears on the side and the rest of the components of the arduino shall move into the original places. I hope it helps!
@deniskobozev39167 жыл бұрын
Just to reiterate what Jose is saying, in the most recent version of Fusion 360, only the PCB in the rigid group will move when creating a joint and all the other components will follow only after you click OK on in the joint menu. The most confusing part is that it's not how the joint behaves in this video. Breaking the link doesn't seem to be necessary.
