Great video, not sure if you will see this I'm doing the same as you and at the tail end there is a big difference in thickness. Tried using fillet but keep getting errors.
@TheNeverendingProjectsList Жыл бұрын
Usually if the fillets are throwing errors it's because they are to big for one area. If it's on the tail it could be because of where the tail connects to the body.

How big do the holes need for the registration pegs?
@TheNeverendingProjectsList2 жыл бұрын
I use .25" diameters for the pins and holes. I clean them up with a 1/4" drill bit after printing.

What is the equivalent to the pipe command in Solidworks?
@TheNeverendingProjectsList2 жыл бұрын
I haven't used SW in a awhile so I don't know if they added a equivalent pipe command these days but from memory... you can draw a path sketch (like I would for the pipe command) and then just add a new plane on one end of that sketches points (using the reference geometry plane command) then just draw your circle (or what ever shape) on that new plane and then just use the Sweep boss command and select the circle for the Profile and the other sketch for the path. It's a few more steps but it should end up with the same results.

Have you looked into CNC milling molds, perhaps out of wood or aluminum? Wood would be pretty easy to do, and wouldn't be as impacted by heat!
@TheNeverendingProjectsList4 жыл бұрын
I haven't but I want to make one of those small DIY CNC mills out of a mini router to see if I could cut my own. I hear getting them done professionally can be a lot of money.

Thank you so much for making this! I'm trying to "trick" my angler teenager into learning 3d modeling to make soft plastics. I have a bit of autocad experinces and really like the way you went from sketch to modeling to slicing to printing. There are plenty of other video on the injection process. Have you considered resin prints?

I'd probably only do 2 colors, one like a motor oil /black snake kind of colou, the other a more organic brown green like the "watermelon" that is popular. On just about any body of water you will find fish tat goes for one of the two

How do you export only half mold?
@TheNeverendingProjectsList4 жыл бұрын
In Fusion360 in the side Browser Tree find the actual body of the piece you want to export from the "Bodies" tab and just Right Click on that body and select "Save as STL". (you have to make sure the body is visible or it won't export.) This is the fastest way to export any STL in Fusion.

Hi there, just liked a llot your video. In fact, I plan to make one my own following your tips. I have a question: how long does it take to cool down the lures before opening the mold? thank you.
@TheNeverendingProjectsList4 жыл бұрын
Unlike an aluminum mold which dissipates the heat faster the 3D printed molds do require a little more time before de-molding. I usually wait about 3-4 minutes (at least) but I lot is going to depend on the design of the baits.

I only sell the files so people can print there own.
