Hey Dave, I heard you talking with Bob & Jimmy about how to make the furniture & art in each room work together without being all matchy matchy. You probably know this but I’ll throw it out anyway … consider making one signature piece in the room that has different elements that work well together. I’m thinking about something like the desk Sean Boyd just posted, but in your style. Take one or two of those elements and use them in another piece. Maybe you make wall art with contrasting wood, chamfers, and unique angles. You make the bed using those angles & one of the wood species. You make night stands with the other wood and chamfers. The pieces look different but the signature piece pulls it together. Love the stools. Keep it up!

Those are incredibly nice. I'm looking forward to this series because I am finally moving into my own apt after college without a roommate. Hopefully I'll have my own house in a year or so and this series will either give me inspiration on how to decorate OR torture me by thinking I could do it but not ever overcome the hurdle of actually getting started. Either way, really looking forward to this!

That upholstery job turned out wicked. If you do the next stool just bring the top cover 25-30mm around the back when you staple it off, and you had it with the false bottom. Then staple the Velcro inside the void where you've cut the fabric off. Nailed it tho! they look awesome

Love that you point out how many different ways there are to do things. For that example you gave with the bandsaw vs doing a cut raising the table saw blade, I tend to cut the curve part by drilling with a forstner bit to reduce sanding, followed by the bandsaw for the straight part.

I’m digging this series! Such a good idea to use a bnb to showcase and advertise your work! A couple questions. If someone wants to buy a piece of furniture after staying at the house, are you going to sell them the one being used in the house, or take an order and make another one just like the floor model? My other question is how much did that much walnut cost you where you live?

Yesterday I finished putting together a stool using a piece of 150 (3.5 in thick) year old barn wood and it had a pretty good rock to it. Your comment of "all my shit rocks!!!!" made me feel a lot better about it. It's fixable of course but as wood workers we are always chasing perfection. Congrats on this new chapter. I made a similar stool years ago. I wonder if this design of yours will fall backwards as someone slides it back because of the additional weight of the butt crack hider. The stool I made was top heavy just like this and if you skoot it back with your butt and not hold on to it, it falls back everytime.
