If you're having trouble with the col-erase being a little too stiff of a lead, you might try out Tombow erasable colored pencils. They come in a vibrant or pastel set (called vivid and tranquil) and while they don't have erasers on the ends, each pack comes with an eraser and sharpener. They're pretty soft, not as soft as a B probably, but they are easy to work with. The downside is that they're pretty expensive; a pack of twelve can be upwards of $23. I enjoy them a lot, but I also love col-erase pencils too. Both are pretty comparable, but I would say the Tombow are just a little bit softer--it makes for good blending of colors.

I feel like watercolor pencil have more of a "b" pencil feel. I use my Castle brand watercolor pencils as "regular" colored pencils without adding water and i feel like i get a more saturated coverage without having to press as hard

If anyone is interested in why a bunch of cats are in a Halloween box, it's because there is a type of Yokai in Japan that is known as the nekomata (which you can tell from them either having 2 tails or the tail spilt into two at the end) The pokemon Espeon is actually based off the nekomata as well! Just a little fun fact!

In regards to your question about coloured pencils, I've never seen any of them with grading like what graphite pencils get, but there are definitely softer and harder types. In my limited experience oil based pencils tend to go on more smoothly but they're harder to get to fill a space with colour without a solvent. Wax based ones are often softer but they usually require burnishing to fill a space with colour (which, for newbs like myself, is when you press down harder to work the pigment into the paper) and that's what usually hurts your hand. So, the solutions I use is to either A) draw more lightly and use a solvent (i don't do this much because i mostly use wax pencils, it doesn't seem to work as well with them) or B) I apply a base of colour with gouache or alcohol markers first, so I don't actually need to use the pencil to fill in the colour. Pastel pencils are quite soft, though, you might have more luck with them?

Hey Rin, don't know if you realized this but the box was yokai themed, predominantly bakeneko themed. That's why all of these items were in the Halloween box, because yokai are Japanese monsters/ghosts! (Also I know the art is done now but a yokai themed drawing would have been sick lol)

I've only been studying art for a year and a half now, so I'm still new. However, I mostly use colored pencils and so I can kinda give a comparison. Wax-based colored pencils like Prisma color are softer type pencils. I'd say they're the equivalent of about an HB pencil and can create something called wax blooms. Polychromos are oil-based and have a harder core so they're more like an H type pencil but hold a sharp point for much longer. However, both Prismacolor and Polychromos layer and blend well, plus they can be used together or interchangeably. Caran D'Ache pencils are like the Copic of the pencil world (thus $$$). Their Pablo line of pencils is waxed based like the Prismacolor. However, the Luminance line of pencils is oil-based and MUCH softer than Polychromos. They are equivalent to an 8B pencil and can be used over Polychromos to add highlights like the way you'd use a jelly roller. Hope this helps!

Just to let you know, the reason it doesn't have much Halloween stuff is because it's Japanese and Halloween is a Western holiday. I live in Japan, and whilst they've adopted some aesthetic elements it's barely registered as any kind of event. Just thought you might like to know! It wasn't an oversight on the boxes part, it's just not part of the culture here.

idk if anyone has commented about this, but the cat stickers ARE actually spooky! They are bakeneko, a type of yokai, and the "rain drops" are supposed to be onibi, which translates to "demon fire," another type of yokai! The More You Know~
