Local railgun exper here, your on the right track. You can place several magnets behind the projectile, I this case 9, however you'll get diminishing returns past 6. It's barrel is too long to be reliable while pitching or rolling, try shortening it and instead putting that power to the sides of the railgun, as they would also propell it.

I only did a bit of experimenting beforehand to make sure the concept would work, so thanks for the advice for optimizing this in the future!

This is a coil gun though, a coil gun uses magnetic coils to propel a projectile forward (like this) while a rail gun is made up of two rails (one positivity charged, one negatively charged) in which the projectile completes the circuit when entering the chamber turning the entire system into a very large magnet that propels the projectile forward

You could make the hinges stay with logic

If you want to keep the hinges on an angle once the seat attaches you have to use distance sensors that activate the Turning not controls from the seat
