Perhaps having top and bottom magnets would have stopped it from getting stuck in the barrel. A shotgun version would also be fun.

a thing i used on a spaceship is a tractor beam dynamite launcher that loaded with what was basically a cylinder. trust me when i say if you make these things work right you have one insanely powerful space gun.
