Very nice, kinda gives me berserk vibes. Maybe you could give the lad a combonation of high medieval and modern police armor, like an angled breastplate with a form of soft body armor, and if this is the far future (i understand you want the protaganist to be facless), would visors be made from a form of bullet proof glass/plastic? I also enjoy the zweihander he has in his idle, maybe it would be cool to draw from german/swiss mercenaries like landsknecht. Their clothing might be too colorful for this style and tone of game. But hey, im just some dude with an obssesion to middle ages warfare, do what you feel is right, it looks awsome so far.

If i were to suggest a change to the character designs, it would be to make the belts higher, around the midriff, not the lower waist, and make the clothes hang their weight off them (very important for chain maille). Also, i recommend just researching a bunch of medieval armour when its worn, because it looks really cool when you draw the fabric just right. Last is, try implementing stuff that didnt exist in the medieval world, like buttons, suit collars, pockets, back packs, steel capped boots, zips even, glass/goggles in the helmets, elastics, etc.

Being critical towards your own work is usually a good thing because the result is higher quality, but go easy on yourself, these designs are awesome :D Like, seriously, I don't even know what you could improve (aside from the cat).

The sword and hans can swing a little bit when you walk and rotate the camera, like the weapons in fps games, that add juicy to the movement

Cool art-style BUT... You could move the image thing in-game instead of making a separate walk cycle loop thingymajig, this would make it look smoother and also make it so that when you do an action the walk cycle still plays.

Maybe give the MC one shoulder thing that the cat can grip and perch on. Like a slightly extended, upturned leather platform with cloth or some fabric the cat claws can keep sturdy purchase on. That could be a cool look and make the cat mesh better. That gives me another idea: what if in levels, there are long tapestries or long banners or flags, etc that the cat can climb or kinda wall run with to reach higher areas and jump. Maybe to retrieve some of the books. Like a 1st person 3rd person platformer within the context of the game.

I kindly disagree to ignore the cat. In fact, I am certain the cat is going to play a special role in your game and lore. Have you played Tallowmere, where you can sacrifice cat babies to decrease the difficulty of the game? Just putting this out there. Cat's are soothing.

Love the artstyle and combat idea. However I would try to lifting the viewport a bit. This is something I see a lot with people using the first-person template in Unreal. It looks like the head is floating above the ground. My main point of criticism goes toward the story however. I think you will lose A LOT of players with the christian templars vs. the goverment theme. Id prefer it to be just a fictional cult. I understand that sci-fi/dystopian work often is critical towards modern politics but this feels rather pro-christian. I know this templar/christian imagery is often times used in mangas too but there it is very much stylized and doesn't really feel connected to reality apart from using names/symbols.
