Transforming Mismatched Nightstands into a Perfect Pair | Furniture Flipping Ep. 2

Hey guys this week I worked on clearing my house of the random furniture I purchased 3 months ago! 😂 I like to furniture flip on the side... you make a little extra money, it's fun and creative and I love saving an old piece. BUT sometimes I overwhelm myself by getting a ton of pieces all at once and it kills the creative juices. So I have had 4 pieces sitting around my house waiting to get fixed up. So this week I rolled up my sleeves and got to work on one of the pieces I have been really stumped by. These nightstand are the most interesting pieces I have come across in a while. After getting the nightstand and sanding them down by husband and I started to realize that the nightstand don't match. At first glance they look like a perfect match but they are not. There are a few subtle difference that haunt this flip because I didn't know what to do to get rid of the difference. I finally came up with a game plan for these nightstands and I hope you liked the flip. -Mailey

They turned out great. I'm glad you redid the top drawers. Hated them before. The trim and fluting are very pretty and the color of the wood top complements the paint color.

Those turned out great (as usual 🤪) Mailey! Great job! I agree with your detective work - I also think the nicer one was made earlier and with more quality materials than the second one. This is happening more and more, unfortunately. Best way to get more quality pieces is second hand, it seems (though it takes more effort and time) than buying them new anymore. 😢

It's so true cheaper materials but you pay the same amount or more then what you use to. Even the high ends stores the furniture can still be so poorly made. I'm so glad you like and thanks for watching!

Thank and nope they are craft dowels 1/4 inch thick

After calculating out everything I spend. I track the how much time I spent on the piece. Then kind of go from there and figure out what I would be happy making on the piece. But also if a piece isn't selling after a while I slowly lower the price. I'm hoping these sell for $600.

Those are obviously custom made by a woodworker, he was definitely just eyeballing every measurement though. it's obvious because at 8:17 you show underneath one of the drawers and the glue work is so sloppy, there is no way any company would allow that type of shoddy quality to pass even the most lackluster inspection

That was my original theory but the design definitely looked done by a machine. I think the glue might have been someone trying to fix these up at some point but giving up haha
