That symbol was taken from Hitler and changed it to be something bad the rest of the world because of how Hitler was. But the swastika use to mean good luck or good fortune. Before Hitler came about, even the U.S. used the swastika for certain merchandise and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts had that on badges to add on to their uniforms because it was a positive message then. Then Hitler took it upon himself to destroy a good and pure meaning, Good luck or good fortune, for his own symbol and the people in the U.S. and other countries, stopped using the swastika. So the people of today who still support white supremacy and wear that symbol, they actually don’t even know it was once meant for good.

This is the most stunning border I have seen. It is an utterly harmonious blending of Victorian, gothic, and marine themes. It delves even into that grey area between Victorian and Art Nouveau. I DEFINITELY will be purchasing these if you ever market them. It is the exact sort of frieze that I have been looking years for as a tie-it together theme for my master bedroom. We,latvians,still use this symbol as it comes from our ancient culture! It's a thunder cross or fire cross here. When the rotation for the symbol is to the left,it saves against fire,so is engraved at the foundation of houses. But rotation to the right,encourages fire,so is used near fireplace. Also symbol protects against health issues and helps with luck. Symbol for the energy of Sun 🌅

How sad that what was originally an ancient symbol of peace and good luck, used across the world, has become so associated with something so awful that it can no longer be used.
@PeopleGetHelp2 жыл бұрын
I follow Buddhism so it is definitely sad people see the symbol and think of evil. Even though the direction differs the association is the same. I have statues of Buddha's with the peace on their chest, no one says anything but I'm sure they think negativity but realize it's not the same.

The symbol similar to what is in this video is still used frequently in Buddhism. It is the rotated/diamond version that was hijacked and used nefariously in history/ and is still used by less-intelligent folks who think they’re drawing a wht-power symbol and have no idea about the square symbol’s use in Buddhism. I hate to see it misused, but I do get a chuckle out of the idea of radical buddhists graffitiing locations. Radical street-art buddhists would certainly be more welcome than the ignorant folk who still try to use the symbol.

The house we bought last year is 109 years old. The walls of one room started peeling, and under layers of wallpaper topped with paint, I found original wallpaper and ceiling paper with a small border between. There is too much old water damage from years ago before the roof was replaced. I really want to catalog it before we have to do some needed structural work, and likely destroy much of it. I just have no idea where to start. I wish I could do something as beautiful as your work here.
