God i wish Respawn did more SP stuff like Titanfall 2. That was one of the best paced FPS campaigns i've ever played.

The singleplayer reminded me a lot of the older Halo titles. Power weapons pickups with limited ammo, beefier enemys that took more hits to take down and the difficulty was also in a good spot.

these guys took the time to make fun gameplay and interesting environments and THEN built a story around it. So many developers built a big story and them have to fit gameplay into it.

The campaign in Titanfall 2 was simply stunning. The best I've played since the classics in the 1990s. It felt like a big-budget, polished blockbuster update of Shogo in the best possible way.

It's crime what EA did to TF2, releasing between CoD and BF1 like that. Respawn is one of the most consistently outstanding devs in the past and present, and when they finally get to get creative and experiment with something new and exciting they get boned by the corporate shit machine. Gonna vote EA the worst company in America for the third time now.

Titanfall 2 campaign is the best i've played since half-life 1. And considering that HL aged a bit, if both were made nowadays, Titan would be the best one. Good job guys! I replayed it with my 6yo nephew, and it was really nice to see how passionate he was for the story, while usualy its so hard to get young kid's attention for long period of time.

12:00 Remnant 2 just did this to me with a boss-fight... And Dark Souls pretty much became a global phenomenon because of it. Yes - we're all going to just dash in and hit a bunch of dead ends, and we're going to get bummed out for a minute because o fit. But what this forces the player to do is to take a step back and say "Shit, okay... I guess I'm actually going to have to really think about this." I can tell immediately when I'm playing a rigorously play-tested game - because it just can't let me just be an idiot for a minute. When you hit that wall yeah you'll loose your momentum and drive for a minute... But what comes after that is that you start going "Shit, I think I just might have to start listening to what these characters are saying - and maybe even think about the things that I'm automatically just doing. Putting up a brick wall for the player to run head-first into can be a really effective way to bring them out of autopilot. And a lot of the time (to varying degree depending on the type of game) this makes you start actually engaging with the world and what is actually happening. And putting the player in the mindset I think is almost essential if you want them to have a memorable and engrossing experience - I.E. if you want to make a game that players actually engage with, and don't just run through. In most typical commercial games that are rigorously play tested you can pretty much just go forwards while just punching out anything that tries to stop you from doing that. If they are actually doing a puzzle or something like that you get like 30 seconds to a minute of trying to figure it out before an NPC basically flat out just flat out tells you what to do. I've played scores and scores of games like this - and I've enjoyed them just fine... But I pretty much can't remember most anything about any of them. It makes for an experience that ultimately doesn't really challenge or engage you at all, or teach you dick about tits... Those kinds of experiences are supposed to be for passing the time while waiting for the bus or something like that. I care about games, and I want genuine experiences. I don't want what is ultimately no good for much of anything but passing time.

Listening to this, I was wondering if the designers could use hard aspects of gameplay for harder difficulties. As an avid titanfall player, I would love to go against titans without my titan and instead utilise platforming and skill to overcome the challenge. Easier difficulties could just swap it out to a cutscene.

love this... pull a portal 2 and make a level builder for the community, the most popular levels get strung into an ever evolving story must have a way to do non Euclidian geometry and portals, and simplistic user scripts that can make calls to the engine if needed, would also need moderation for malicious code or make a game... call it action blocks do this :)

I’ve only ever played titanfall 2, so I can’t comment on which is better, but I will say that I was blown away by the graphics of 2 in every single level. You could feel the insane amount of effort and time that went into the details and world building of the environment. Gorgeous game in my opinion. I’m curious about the differences from the first one!

It's so sad to see most of the Titanfall designers leave Reaspawn and have the few that remain stuck on making more Apex Legends stuff. I'm not against the idea of Apex, but these guys have made WAY too many top-tier singleplayer campaigns and having them work ONLY on Apex kinda seems to defeat the point for me. But I guess it brings enough money that EA doesn't care about the next game in the Titanfall universe.

Unforgettable levels? I enjoyed TF2's SP but honestly I've forgotten most of it. I do remember though when the ship chase mission glitched out and didn't register the fact I'd cleared the broadside guns. Real fun re-playing that.
@charlierose71536 жыл бұрын
Im the opposite, most levels stuck out, but the big three of the time travel, the factory and the air armarda ones really stuck. However i do think that the games sp could be improved a lot with better enemy design: the combat works perfect for pvp but the actual pve singleplayer gunplay isnt that stand-out.
@koalabrownie6 жыл бұрын
No and the boom droid things were super annoying as well, particularly in that factory fight.
@charlierose71536 жыл бұрын
@@koalabrownie yeah that fight was annoying: i knew what they were going for, constantly moving to avoid death, but the problem is moving fast and shooting behind you at the bomb spiders was almost impossible. The Reaper fight in the underground worked a lot better for that gameplay tbh. More enemies like Reapers, with dangerous melees and slow projectile attacks you could outrun wouldve really helped IMO
@koalabrownie6 жыл бұрын
Oh the time travel one was cool too, though to be honest I 100% forgot about it. Had some cool stuff for sure but never found the combat as fluid as it suggested it could be. Probably just need to get good.
