Ive been using pla printed bushing/bearings in my printer for over a year! best decision i ever made ! zero rod wear, barely any bushing wear and even if i notice any i just print a new one! Just put a tiny dab of quality teflon grease like super lube on them every once in a blue moon! Zero noise and precise beautiful prints.

which is the best tolerance hole from your point of view and your experiment in the above video

Subscribed. That means something.

I would've printed the hole exactly 8 mm and get a reamer 0.3155" to make the hole precise. (8mm is 0.3149")

Great Video James. Sorry I haven't been on lately, the new job is working over nights for Uber picking up their new scooters which doesn't leave me much time. I'm hoping to have the money to purchase the laser cutter in a couple of weeks, I'm about half way to having the initial cost of the printer then it is a matter of waiting 20-38 days for shipping. I just hope when I get it here I can get it in the house. It will be 900 x 600mm working area. Once I have it maybe I can finally finish the Monstrosity as the Z Axis mounts keep breaking because of being 3d printed. I will finally be able to laser cut replacements. We will see if I will be able to come back to youtube once I have it or not. Depends on what I have for time. Talk to you later on Twitter, I will send you a picture of the one I am ordering. Now that I have a somewhat stable job maybe things will go as planned now for getting the house and all by the end of the summer. I'm off to work now, I will try to remember to send a pic tomorrow when I get off.

you can machine soy wax with the 3d printer and make accurate plaster molds to fill with a mix of recycled plastic (pet, pom, pc, abs or blends), sand (compressive strength) and chopped and unidirectional glass fiber (tensile strength)

What was the tolerance that ended up working the best for you? I am printing my own and hope to get a close estimate to start with!

these are not bearings!
@PrintNPlay4 жыл бұрын
Quite right, they are bushings.
@Diogo-dt1uf4 жыл бұрын
WRONG! They are bearings. Have you already heard of bearing bushings? No? alright that explains... please refer to any mechanical book... i'll save you some time: www.ggbearings.com/en/faq/what-difference-between-bearings-bushings#:~:text=A%20bushing%20is%20one%20classification,be%20called%20a%20sleeve%20bearing.&text=Thus%2C%20a%20bushing%20is%20a,not%20necessarily%20a%20bushing%20type.

I'm replying to a two year old comment. A bushing is a type of bearing.
