Man called that Gigabyte board "extra durable" when those boards were absolute trash. The heatsinks for the 990fx were not good enough so much that they re-made that board 3 times. It's anything but durable.

When using pliers try using tape wrapping over the teeth of the pliers to keep from damaging the paint. I think you will be very happy with the results. The other recommendation I have for you is to try Even's Waterless Coolant, it's anti-corrosive, much higher boiling point, 40 below zero operation range. It's for Automotive cooling and it is rather pricey but for PC cooling it would be superb as you never have to change it. Hope that helps.

There is only meant to be enough thermal paste to fill the gaps between the rough surfaces of the CPU and the heatsink. This slather on loads of thermal paste attitude is totally wrong.

Clr is too harsh that’s why the plating stripped. Don’t use that on anything reactive like nickel or copper.

The nickel was already stripped, we needed something strong like clr to remove the rust/corrosion, especially in the fins

You could have taped up those pliers before you bent those fins back on that memory stick so that it would not scratch anything. Tape the grid pattern on pliers when using them on delicate projects in the future. Great video!
