A project amounting to PHP 15 billion (USD 273 million and also just a fraction compared to infrastructure built for vehicles) aims to build a walkable esplanade across both sides of the 26 kilometer stretch of the Pasig river. The Philippine government has enlisted two main consultants to develop the masterplan (its design, how it interacts with the communities nearby, and how it can help increase the quality of life both of the organisms in the river and also the people surrounding it): William Ti, principal architect of WTA and Paulo Alcazaren, principal of PGAA Creative Design.
The project aims to give people more opportunities to connect with the river.
"We have this very strong connection originally with the river, with our waters. And I think it's important to bring that back - for people to be aware of the importance and value of the river," Ti says.
"The Pasig river has always been a central spine in the history of Manila - economically, socially, politically even. So it's important to reconnect because the Pasig offers an opportunity for a more efficient transportation," says Alcazaren.

It's ugly. It looks cheap. It's a post-modern classical ridiculousness. It doesn't feel solid. It looks like it will crumble when a typhoon comes. You all better fix it because it's the integrity of you all working on this that's on the line.

We need this along our riverfront in downtown historic Brunswick , Glynn County , Georgia USA 🇺🇸 . And also surrounding the undeveloped St . Andrews Island . This redevelopment project is so well done , thought out , and beautiful . Even the lighting and fountains are exquisite . And the stonework . Great job . Again , we need similar in downtown Brunswick , Georgia along the waterfront . It would also be nice if it connected to our undeveloped historic Brunswick Canal . Both sides of the historic Canal could be done in similar fashion and developed well . If only . 🤔

Any sensible person would conclude that the Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli (PBBM) project will spur job opportunities, leading to income and food on the table. Compared to the dolomite coastline project, it is a functional initiative that holds great potential for growth in the areas of business, tourism, and transportation. This project will greatly benefit the overall well-being of the community and set the stage for further progress and prosperity. I have a feeling that the Marcos Foundation may have played a significant role in this audacious project. If this is indeed the case, I cannot fathom how the Marcos family could be so humble as to not publicly acknowledge their role in the funding. Thank you PBBM and FL Liza❤

Tourist woukd need these vendors but a dedicated and organise patches of space is ideal, not within the esplanade ofcourse. But a place very close to it. I hope the govt and its consultants will consider the 2 seasons in the Philippines. They should not design it like this is Europe with 4 sesons. Its not even summer and one feels the heat already. So far No trees; no shades and sheds. Was this made for evening walks or whole day activity. ( btw It is easy to buy and plant matured trees like i see with Ayala projects). Quiapo artistic buildings were arcaded and for 1 of many reasons it is due to weather; comfort and convenience to shoppers back then But my wish is the best for a filthy smelling Pasig River during dry months. As well as Safety in the promenade maybe with police presence or outposts strategically located. More buildings in historic places should be given tax shelter to its owners by participating in the development. The Bangkok river and Nile Rivers Dinner cruise never fails to excite me, I hope we will have one too.

🥰 lagyan nyo po ng maraming upuan, kapag mapagod may maupuan at masilungan, in case of taginit at ulan. At meron silang mabilhan, like food at CR naman of course!. At merong mga guardia, dahil hindi lahat ay desiplinadong mga tao na pupunta dyan, para mapa natili ang kaayusan.❤️

Could you please add launching points for people who love to kayak? Paddling the Pasig River to get from point to point would be awesome.

The Pasig River need iconic structures and parks similar to the one they have in Dubai and Singapore so that people enjoy in taking water ferries or buses.

I just hope they consider covered walkways because while I am a big fan of walking, I will not walk 10 kilometers a day under the blazing sun in humid weather.

This is really great, I think you should add more rubbish bins along the whole track so that people are more encouraged to dispose their trash properly and to avoid littering everywhere. Other than that, overall this is a great step! :)

I hope they restore the original Jones Bridge design too, the sculptures of the bridge were part of Manila’s architectural heritage.

Hope the project will include the Old Rizal Provincial Capitol,it is near the Pasig River in Sta Rosa,Pasig City but it is not accessible to the people and tourists. It was built in the 1920s when the Town of Pasig was the Capital of Rizal province.

Gr8 plan & video. I'm glad it's being used as a transportation corridor too for ferries, tour boats, bikes & pedestrians. Your missing the potential for social services & housing. Floating day cares, schools, health centres, & housing could be added. So all levels of society benefit. It seems that it is very, very classist. As slum are cleared there is no where for them to go. Floating house boats & homes could line the river a la new & old Amsterdam, if they are provided shore water & sewage, & basic roof top solar.

What about having a regular show there like performing folk dancers or musicians playing banduria ( correct me kung mali spelling or term ko☺️). It will help also promote our cultural side while entertaining splanade' visitors.
