I think this sermon made me understand what I want to do with my life... I am 19 and am studying Japanese, and I might just use my degree to get involved with a ministery in Japan, in order to spread the gospel.

That’s so amazing. I just recently started learning Japanese myself because I love the culture. But as much as I love it, it saddens me how lost they are. Theres so few believers in Japan. God bless you in whatever endeavors he leads you in!

Acts 20:24 changed my life 6 years ago. Over time I developed my own worldly hopes and dreams, and when they came crashing down almost exactly one year ago, I went to a very dark place in my mind. Thankfully I only had the darkest thought for perhaps 15 seconds before I took my pain, desperation, and hopelessness to Jesus. My life verse popped into my mind, and I reflected hard on it before searching for a sermon online. This sermon helped light that fire again, slowly but faithfully, and I am SO grateful. The Holy Spirit spoke through Mr. Piper, over the internet, 3 years after this was uploaded. Praise God.

Thank you so much for sharing, i am just about to watch it now and I just received his book “Don’t waste your life”. I’m desperate for change, I feel like I lived for myself more than I have lived for God, I want to change it desperately.

@lostwreckage Hello, thank you for sharing your story. I relate. I have a question, when they came crashing down, how did you reposition your life/thoughts? How did you get out of that dark place?
@kimberlymortenson95138 ай бұрын
God woke me to hear this. I am 57. Lots of hurt and false starts on my way to the cross. I am in Christ now, but feel the weight of my wasted life. If you feel this way, DONOT DESPAIR!! It’s not over! Give up your life NOW! Satan will taunt you with memories of your sins, but Christ is GREATER than he who is in the world. Finish strong, Saint.

“It’s Friday”!! My favourite quote yet!! I loved this so much. At 5 hearing my Mum ask me to hand my life to Jesus, seemed...unfair. At 20 I thought that I was ready, but drifted right of track for 20 years. I bought the lies and whilst I had some ups, I had a lot more downs!! Now I joyfully push on into the next 40 (or likely less if Jesus returns) KNOWING that up or down, left or right, with Jesus. Like a great roller coaster that has the best “Friday” ever ahead...”good night” 😅😂😂 sorry Pastor John. I love that little exclamation of yours! Love and prayers to you all from Australia 🇦🇺

Radical man. Radical. This has been my life. After college in 2010 I decided I wanted to be an actor. Took classes first time ever. Took me 2 years to move to LA. Lived in my car 5 years. Then I quit 5 years now I'm back again. Following my biggest dream. Not here to be comfortable. I'm here to make a difference. To take big risks. I've never been an American dream type guy I wanted the best. Got off track for a bit but I'm back. I wanna be the next Brad Pitt in Hollywood. And touch the world through my acting. No one can fathom what I've been thru. Ive always been convinced God had a reckless radical plan for me Not a safe life The best actors are the ones with the largest array of color on their painting pallate of life experiences..and over coming obstacles etc Not an easy life

Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Hebrews 3:4, 7, 14-19 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he👈 that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?👈 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.👈

As a black male our brothers and sisters that are not black speak in ways that are foreign to us because we didn't have those opportunities as they did. So, John Piper's sermon was for that audience not for everyone maybe we could take some of those things in his sermon "Don't Waste your Life" and apply them but not every thing. I went to the military fresh out of HS because my mother couldn't afford to help me with college and even though I had scholarships to go to college then need to make money and help myself and my family was greater than the need to go to college. I did go to college later in life but our priorities as black people are totally different than most white people and even more so as Christians.
@Rebbie946 жыл бұрын
As a black Christian woman, I respectfully disagree with this: "John Piper's sermon was for that audience not for everyone". Although, I acknowledge your background and the fact that you believe your full comment above. I do think if you are going to write your view on this sermon and its message it is better to speak for your own self and experience (as you included) instead of also speaking for the black community as a whole. There is also an assumption you have made which is that black people were not in that audience (implied by your opening and subsequent sentence) and that John Piper was speaking to a certain group of people instead of all people regardless of colour, background and opportunities. With that said, I pray you did take some incredible pointers from the sermon anyway. God bless you and in the love of Christ, J
