This is what strengthens our testimony---marvelous!

I've looked at those two passages in the past and arrived at a somewhat different conclusion. The remembering in Ephesians I view as remember "before Christ". Remember this great mystery to become a part of the same body through the blood of Christ with the Jewish believers. The forgetting in Philippians I considered to forget the "shortcomings" the "sins", the "just plain messing up" that we do sometimes as true Christians, understanding that these things are under the blood and He is our righteousness, so forget those things and press on in the walk with Christ. That is how I see it.

Amen. I was going to comment the same. Recent born again. I read " The Believers Authority" by "Kenneth E Hagin" and am following this teaching. A couple of nights ago it came to me study Eph 2: 11-13. The enemy loves to parade by past in front of me. Sometimes it feels like a plauge. Any how. Yes remember we were fallen and raised with him, but forget what we did in that fallen state. Because through faith and Grace we are forgiven.

In Christ I'm born again in the spirit through his merciful sacrifice on the cross.

I think another importance of remembering is how lost we were and how wonderful it is to be in Christ. When it comes to sharing the Gospel sometimes we forget how truly dreadful it is to be outside of Christ. This can help us have a heart for them to evangelize because at one point we we're the same untill we heard God's word.

I find it good to remember as it reminds me how I've changed. It's easy to become complacent otherwise if we forget how we used to walk, before the Holy Spirit opened out eyes and bring us to Christ.

I'm wondering if the difference between Paul and the Ephesians has something to do with Paul being a Jew through and through and the Ephesians being Gentiles, through and through, hence, this fundamental difference has to do with the promises God has for each party. As a Jew, Paul "forgets" because he comes from the chosen people, which the Ephesians "remember" because they come from being NOT of the chosen people (in a big way). So maybe there is a fundamental difference between Jew and gentile? This doesn't seem to match Gal. 3:28 though. I'm at a loss.
