I used to have a setup like this. Spent a lot of time on it too. Lived in a condo and my neighbor gave me bed bugs. Perfect hiding place for the little suckers with all the tight spaces the organization gives. Recently moved but never had the heart to do the same organization. Watching videos like this gives me peace.

You gave me inspiration to build a standing desk of my own. 1. (Below the desk) The no-show wires (while watching got idea to make wiring inside the thick table itself) 2. The jack : mostly standing desks have hydraulics and they come way costlier than my budget. So the car jack principle is actually awesome. 3. (Above the desk) The stands/pipes give good aesthetics and remove clutter on the desk. Thanks for sharing. It will take time for me to build but surely will share once done.

Brutally thorough and amazingly executed, hats off my man. At the risk of being 'that guy', your speakers look too far apart (hard to tell from video footage), and wayyyy too toed-in (feelin' more confident on this assessment), they look like they're converging halfway between you & your screen. If so, and if you're down for taking the unsolicited advice of someone who designs spendy analog gear, try angling the speakers in so that they point at & converge just behind your ears. Shortcut: when you point your head forward and pan your eyes to look at either speaker, you won't see their inner sides, they're parallel to your gaze. Better yet, try not toe-ing them in at all, or just a smidge, ribbons usually have very wide dispersion. There's no way to know what's ideal, all of this is extremely room- and setup-dependent. That desk is creating hella boundary interference, so imaging is compromised in any scenario, but... with 2 mins of experimenting you might be able to notch your acoustic response up a level.

For speaker mounts you can use cheap monitor arms. Most of them have enough adjustability so the monitor mounting bit can be rotated 90degrees flat so you can place your speaker on top of it. So you don't need to mount speakers with screws from the back like you do with monitors. Just screw some plywood to the vesa mounts and put the speaker on top of it. Much better than screwing your speaker stands into the desk with solid unadjustable mounts. You can also tilt your speakers to any angle and it holds the angle. It won't collapse or give out unless you really mess up your positioning where you locate the vesa mount. Then it is easy to add all sorts of connectivity through the speaker arms as well.

Not sure how you were going to get those galvanised pipes to rust ha ha.. I’d turn your speakers away from the monitor a bit more so the edges of the monitor doesn’t change colours because of the magnets in the speakers.

Those ports on the stand are for USB ports. I have a double arm version of what you've got (sort of) and there are instructions on how to install a USB hub into the base of the mount. I'd also recommend using a hub for your laptop, it can be tucked away but give you access to loads of different I/O. Was the best thing I bought for my laptop.

Thanks for the tips on how to keep all the cables tidy! Since covid days I have been working from home 90-100% of the time except some outings and rare customer meetings. So I recently purchased nice table top (light colored oak desktop) and powerful electric powered legs. It's been amazing actually as far as the desk itself. I was initially worried about electric powered legs may break down in future, but it comes with a 5 year warranty and it's a popular brand (high ratings) so I gave it a go, and I have been happy ever since. I am now on the hunt for a great monitor arm (in white color as the theme is white colored legs and oak desk top). I am in high tech (software industry) so most of my work is with PC. So electric powered desk that can be raised and lowered easily was a must for me. Now my neck and shoulder pain I used to get when I didn't stand up throughout the day just disappeared. I really want to setup my desk now with a 4G monitor and the desktop (as I don't really need MacBook now...I use smartphone while I travel though I currently use MacBook now), so this cable setup (especially the monitor cable setup part) was quite helpful. Thank you!

On the FREDDE, I have a pc, a 3.1 sony sound system, 1 printer, 1 Hyper Quadcast mic and elgato low profile stand, few external hard disk, all kept in the best way possible with cables hidden. But I like the idea of drilling and making new options for better cable management, I have to go back and see, how I can improve. Your take on this is good and I will definitely improve my setup to make it more clean. "If you don't like to see cables, you gotta buy longer cables :-)"

Iv'e updated my PC system so many times that.... I just let the cables lay in the back by the wall for future upgrades and changes. But then again I'm a mechanical design engineer and my work office desk is cluttered with all kinds of project things. So yeah, I guess you can say that I'm not a neat freak. But sometimes I do go ahead and do a major organization spree every few years... But still clutter doesn't bother me unless it's not a totally useful clutter! Now if I build a machine then yeah. I do that very organized all the way around. So it depends what it is for me. Hahahaha! Nice clean set-up you have there!

If your cable clips doesn't stick. A good alternative from using super glue is using "nano tapes". I stick my audio controller under my desk using nano tapes instead of drilling a hole. Its sticking for about a year now and I don't think this will fall off unless I give it an intentional and forcefull pull.

Really impressed with how you did the speakers . Those are called floor flanges in Canada, and use gas pipe and are fairly inexpensive. I was debating to buy a live edge 1.5” thick slab like yours at Windsor Plywood. It would be a little over $500 for a 4x8’ piece after tax , and I’d have to cut it down with my festool track saw to a size I want . I’d have a difficult time drilling holes threw of for speakers thinking that I’d want to do some possible changes in the future . But sometimes you gotta commit lol
