Great setup! A lot of it is necessary too - backup, ergonomics, eye care etc. Even on a budget, everyone should think about these concepts. Love the little plug for Kings of Convenience - Riot on an Empty Street is a beautiful album, great recorded sound, and the duo are very personable live. An example of 'less is more'.

Always dig your setup! I have both the M1 MacBook Pro, and man isn't that single-cable bit just astounding?! I also have mine attached to a TS4 and it really blows me away that I can unplug the laptop, slip it into my bag, and then when I reattach it later when I get home, BOOM...every device on my studio desk comes back to life. (I also have a 16-port powered USB hub attached to the TS4). The Screenbar is great (have it on top of my Apple Studio Display), and I too have my iPad attached tot he TS4, and it's really convenient as you say for notes and other things. I'll have to look into the mic shield and the foot rest, and maybe a hardware preamp in 2025? As always, thanks much @SanjayC for sharing!

Not much you can do except clean everyday. Most dust come from our skin shedding, yes they are dead skin cells. If you do a lot of work in your room, you'll get a lot of dust. It's also why clean rooms require people to wear a full body jumper/suit of some sort when we come in to work in there.

You should try the Rupert Neve Newton Channel strip for that extra slot. I like it better than the 1073 style sound. Plus it has eq and a great compressor and that silk knob
@SanjayC
@SanjayC 2 ай бұрын
Love that idea. I’ve been really curious about the Newton and the silk knob. What does silk add to your ears?
@jacksp8de
@jacksp8de 2 ай бұрын
@@SanjayC the silk adds vintage type harmonics similar to the 1073 but all the while sounding cleaner. It has red and blue silk options the red is higher harmonics and blue is lower. The red is great on vocals. you can dial it in the amount you want. I usually do like 30-50 percent. It gives you so much flexibility to choose super clean or more vintage sounding. Newton Channel is the preamp from their 5211 if you’re familiar.

I have a very similar sit/stand desk, same chair, same LG monitor, same MacBook Pro M1, OWC Thunderbolt hub, same iPad Pro….even a turntable. Ok, ok, ….all my speaker monitors are Adam Audio. Very similar setup. I’m thrilled with my UAD gear, but considering a hardware pre-amp like a 1073 clone or a Warm. All my hardware synths and keyboards are on a separate stand on the left - mostly midi’d up with an eMagic MT4 and audio via MOTU 8-Pre via ADAT to the UAD interfaces. UAD Unison inputs would be wasted for these old synths. Frankly, I’m totally into VSTs lately so the old keyboards rarely gets used.

Hey Sanjay. Thank you for the tour! Question. Have you ever considered using a Synology NAS for music production?
@SanjayC
@SanjayC 2 ай бұрын
Not Synology in particular, but I've considered a NAS. I guess I haven't gotten around to that just yet. Do you have one?
@KennethStavis

@@SanjayC Thank you for your reply. Yes. I do have one. Currently, not using it yet as I am not really computer savvy, but my tech person said that I should get one after my last computer crash. He is not a musician or producer so, he couldn't explain how to use it with music production. Not finding people really who use it. I did find someone else who has one but, doesn't use it in their studio. He feels that it is not good for music production. I am on a PC. Besides crashes - I run out of space but running apps, samples and libraries. I am also wanting to know what other people use. Not finding much content that is similar to my situation.

I have the Synology product. It is less convenient to use than other NAS devices because it has too much security. I don't need password protection to access the data in my use case. It also comes with some predetermined folder categories, which I particularly dislike. I will set up the organization of the data myself, thank you very much.

Very nice studio. I've yet to see a reliable report on the Kaotica Eyeball so I haven't bought one yet. I do have some acoustic treatment in my little basement studio so it's not too bad. The pop shield works but most do anyway so that's not a big deal.
@SanjayC

Yes, true, you could get any cheap thing to use as a pop shield. You definitely should try the Kaotica...it surprised me

Very nice setup and demo. I have a few questions: Do you miss the numeric section in your split keyboard? Mine is essential for window management with Mac and DAWs. How is overall fan noise in your setup? E.g. do the Trebleet, laptop and interfaces add anything noticeable?
@SanjayC
@SanjayC 2 ай бұрын
I don't miss the numeric pad on the keyboard at all. Its an easy habit to get rid of :-). The fan noise is non-existent when I'm making music. The fans in my Mac only turn on when I'm doing some heavy video editing. The Trebleet is pretty quiet too
