Great job, I can see why you called it Desk-Zilla!. years ago I put an Elevator in a furniture factory and they set this gorgeous hutch next to the opening on the first floor. Oak and the grain was beautifull. I was up in the hoistway working and I heard this clanging noise??? so went down to investigate and two guys were standing front and back, beating on the Hutch with chains!. as hard as they could swing and hit it. When I asked why? I was told to creat worm holes and to distress it. I almost cried when I saw that. Pro-gress! ya gotta love it!. Oh I think they called it "Technique" ECF

Really enjoyable and informative. Love the sigh of resignation when having to use nails. Not seen veneering with hide glue done that way before. My first encounter with hide glue was in pearl form - smelt abominable. It was rapidly abandoned for a thermoplastic adhesive film to complete the projects. The final toning of the fresh veneer was masterful as usual. Such skill and patience.

That desk came out gorgeous. It's the perfect size desk (before computers took over anyway). The drawer would hold everything you need, the caned cubbies would hold the paperwork that's most current or the writing paper you would use. The turned legs and caning decoration makes it such a sweet table to decorate any room. You did such a good job of matching the old wood with the new 'distressed' wood (distressing cracked me up). It was a Desk-Zilla that turned into a beautiful swan. Lovely!

@Trena~ What an epic restoration, I absolutely love the finished piece! This was an excellent teaching video on so many levels. I especially appreciated seeing how you tackle the repair of the substrate under veneer. My parents gave me an antique buffet that's in need of similar repairs and after watching you do this, I feel much more confident that I can get it done successfully. When you demonstrated how to "Distress" a new piece of wood, I was taking a drink of my Diet Coke. I started laughing so hard it went up my nose!!!! ROFLMAO!!! I will ALWAYS think about your "emotional distress" lesson whenever I distress a piece of wood in the future and laugh all over again!!! Well done Trena! CHEERS! ~~Christy~~

At 27:30 in you are working the glue into a seam using the foam brush. It's not the best way. Use a Bondo applicator. They are flexible, won't tear up the surface and come in different widths and thicknesses. Cheap also. Free with your can of Bondo! BTW, I always look forward to your latest video. You are my favorite Canadian female furniture restorer/repairer. (: < D
