Desktop Webcam Teleprompter

The perfect desktop webcam teleprompter setup www.brightonwestvideo.com/blo... In this video I'm going to share this setup and what to avoid doing if you want to look good on camera while reading a script.
What you'll need:
1. CuePrompter cueprompter.com/
- Head over to cueprompter.com.
- Copy and paste your script in the text box under "Quick start". TIP: Add a couple of blank lines at the top so that the script starts at the middle of the screen.
- Scroll down to the settings below the text box and choose how you'd like the text to look.
- Click Start Prompter. This opens up another tab with your script. Use the space bar to start and stop your script.
TIP: Keep the text at the center of the screen so that you'll look like you're just talking to the camera and not reading a script.
2. Use Zoom or ScreenFlow to record your videos
- Get Zoom here: zoom.us/download
- Download ScreenFlow www.telestream.net/screenflow...
3. PromptSmart
- This is my favorite as it has voice recognition. Get it here (only on iOS): apps.apple.com/us/app/prompts...
You can also use other teleprompter software.
4. Teleprompter
- My favorite teleprompter is the Glide Gear TMP500 amzn.to/44CHvXT
5. Other Tools
- A tablet.
- A foot pedal (optional). You can use this so you can control the script without having to touch your keyboard.
What to do (and what not to do) if you want to look good on camera while reading a script:
1. Don’t tape your script to your monitor or on the wall behind your monitor.
2. If you need to read a script, push your chair back a little. It will make your eyes move less.
3. If you don’t have a teleprompter, make an outline of what you need to say and put it on your desk, then look down at your notes periodically.
4. Don’t read a script while doing a live PowerPoint presentation. My recommendation is to just turn off your camera and read your script on paper.

I will be standing . I will have a hand covered so I can use it for some kind of automation with some teleprompter product. The only problem I can see myself screwing up is when unpredicted subjects come up and when I want to resume to a specific part of the text (forward or, right where I left off before the tangent) I won't be able to. But maybe these kickass software's have got that figured out too. That Prompt software seemed pretty smart , in fact.

Hi Brighton, Thank for your very informative videos. Questions. I have a Logitech 920s HD webcam, Samsung 7" tablet and a Glide Gear 50 teleprompter. 1. Do I need to use an external mic or will the two mic on the webcam be sufficient? and 2. What type of lighting do you use other than natural sunlight when using a teleprompter?

That is part of the teleprompter. I'm using the Caddie Buddy teleprompter. amzn.to/33Vby23 Not all teleprompters have an adjustable camera height. I love the Caddie Buddy because it's so flexible.

I watched your review of Glide Gear TMP-WB Solo Tablet iPad Laptop Desktop Tripod Teleprompter. Even though you much prefer the Caddy Buddy, you thought this one was quite acceptable and much more affordable. I can't seem to find it in Canada. I am looking for a minimum amount of equipment - something compact - something that attaches to my laptop and can be used with my Logitech C930e webcam. Rather than have another device, I would like to be able to use a teleprompter app on my laptop screen - not another device. Any advice?

That is a webcam cover with a pair of eyes printed on it. If I weren't currently living in Mexico, I would mail you one, but mail isn't so much a thing down here ;-) So you can draw a pair of eyes on a post-it note or take a little picture of a loved one or pet and put it right next to the camera - makes it a little easier to look into the camera.

You need a webcam with a 1/4-20 screw hole in the bottom. The Logitech c920, c922 and Brio all have this feature. A number of other webcams do too. Otherwise you'll be using duct tape. :-)

Hi, I'm kind of confused as to which external monitor to use. Should I use a lilliput monitor or a tablet? And why would I use one over the other?

Sorry for the delayed reply. It's a little complicated. The Lilliput will reverse anything on your screen so it will show up properly in the teleprompter mirror. So if you want to show PowerPoint, or need to use your mouse to move around the screen while looking at the camera (and can't trick your brain into moving the mouse left when you want to move the cursor right) the Lilliput is the way to go. You can use a tablet completely separate from your computer for reading a script in an app like PromptSmart. Very simple for just reading a script. You can also use the tablet as a second monitor, making a copy of your screen. However, it doesn't reverse everything. So you'd need to use a teleprompter app like CuePrompter.com on your computer to read a script. But you couldn't use it for PowerPoint, etc. I hope that helps.
