I don't know how I've gone this long without understanding what 3D sketch was, it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up a bit when that sketch was fully constrained I gotta admit. There's just something satisfying about perfect geometry. I know this is an old video but thank you, I'm fiddling with some light projects 3D printed myself and this was a great tutorial to run across using an icosahedron as a frame for my project and the tools this made me understand will let me create whatever geometry is needed. Thanks!

Vladimir, your videos for fusion 360 are so excellent, I don't understand why you dont have a half a million subscribers, I have many people come into my shop and ask how to design something and I always point them to fusion and your channel.

If there are 10 million fusion users I am pretty sure Vladimir will have the number of subscribers you expected :)

Thanks Adam! I appreciate you pointing them my way. Maybe one day I'll get there, only 480K to go 🙂

Thx a lot! This is by far the easiest and IMO best approach on doing an Icosahedron. Have already watched a few of you videos and have to say, they're better explained than most. Great job! 8)

There's about 3:00 of pre-amble, if like me you're too distracted to listen and struggle to find it.

Literally just started using fusion like a month ago cuz of school- and im making a dice set- this was soooooooo damn helpful- even though I had to like watch it 3 times cuz my dummy self kept doin it wrong but none the less it was really simple compared to other tutorials I found and COULDN'T follow- so thanks so much for this i wouldn't have been able to make my dice set without ya

Awesome video! I was looking for a video where I could change one parameter and change the size of the object and this was the first method that wasn't excessively complicated.

Hi Valdimir - great video! Being able to think "around a corner" is so important for CAD design - and so hard to train! This is an excellent video to show how to come up with complex shapes even though we basically deal only in lines, blocks and circles.....good work!

8:00 you should see a padlock appear by the sketch name in the tree view when your sketch is fully constrained. Not tried the 3d sketch tool, looks interesting.

Padlock, or lines will change from blue to black to show they are fully defined.

Well, you should show the icon of the sketch in the browser: the sketch is not fully constrained, all lines are blue (at 6:47 constrained black lines turn blue). Actually, 3D sketching is not a good practice. It's better to work with several simple sketches than fewer and complex sketches. It's better to pattern or mirror features faces or bodies than sketch curves. At least for those who want to be parametric. Nevertheless, it's always nice to overview all the possibilities. Thanks for showing it 👍

I have primitive CATIA, and I figured out how to make platonic solids with only 1 or 2 2D sketches. And the first sketch controls the size of the polyhedron using its edge length. This strategy would've saved me some time.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh... This is exactly what I always want to do, but I constantly forget about/where 3d sketch is. I wish they made a toggle for it in the top bar with all the other sketch tools (or just made it default... which now that I think about it, is likely already an option.)

Very nice! 👍 Thank-You! 😃 Edited: Too bad each face needs to be selected. I thought maybe selecting faces via Select settings would make it possible to get all 20 faces selected with one window sweep. ✌

Great observation 4FunRC. I went back and tried it but unfortunately this method ends up finding a lot more faces. When I changed the selection filter to only Profiles and selected the entire model, I ended up getting 174 faces instead of 20. You get some really cool results when you start deleting faces but not the result I was looking for.

Just a quick question. - Normally when your sketch geometry is fully constrained, the lines turn from blue to black. However I note this didn't occur with your sketches despite being fully constrained. I ask this question since I've encountered this myself whereby my sketch appears to constrained, yet the lines won't change colour. Great videos by the way. I always take home something from your work. -Cheers

Currently, 3D sketches can't be fully constrained. It's a Fusion 360 limitation, I don't know why. There has been some discussions on AD forums about this and the current advice is to avoid 3D sketches for serious parametric design.
