Awesome. Sounds a bit more like when Joy Division became New Order and recorded Ceremony which was written by Ian Curtis (RIP), after he passed and before they became all electronic. They basically sounded like this: a jollier sounding Joy Division. Awesome tho man.

@@DesmondDoom The original song has been a reconnection to Unknown Pleasures since 1979s release. Your cover art is unforgettable and of course the T Shirt. It would be interesting to hear early New Order's possible version of this song and it's later theoretical adaptation by The Cure and then Dinosaur Jr. Lots of interesting stuff on your channel and the coat and surfboard seem to mark you out as a Punk infiltrator into New Wave territory. Thanks.

To that end, it would be more accurate to emulate Barney Sumner's voice than Ian Curtis's. And speaking of Barney Sumner, gotta do something that sounds like Electronic.

Most of the guitar riff would be played by Hooky. All the chorus heavy single melody lines were bass. He rarely played traditional rhythmic bass, always preferring a repeated riff.

Teles are so cool and this one gets mad tone for this style, but my favourite gear is a Gibson ES-175 with upgraded EMG 81 and 85 pickups (signature Kerry King set) and a Kahler locking tremolo, also with Kerry King's signature 20db Gain Boost Toggle Switch installed (Gotta drill through the body but definitely worth it) and also my favourite pick is the one that is included in the Kerry King Signature EMG Pickup Set, it is too large but as my Dad always told me 'use a pick that is too large'
@DesmondDoom2 жыл бұрын
Hi Henry, good to have your gear advice again. That sounds like an amazing guitar mod, personally though I'd take a BC Rich Warlock (Sunburst and semi-hollow of course) and add a George Benson neck pickup and a piezo in the bridge. Maybe a Bigsby too but that could be a bit weird and spoil the other great mods I mentioned.

I don’t want to rustle anyones jimmies, but I never had much use for Smashing Pumpkins. I’m not saying that I hate them. If anyone is a big fan, more power to them. I’m just saying that I’m partial to talented musicians is all. If I’m in their car and they’re playing an SP tune, nbd. I’m not going to make it an issue. We have different tastes in music is all. I like good music.
