I still don't know why I laughed so hard when Mary Alice showed up looking all fresh and heavenly, then hands Lynette a gun as if it was some sort of prize for hope. OMFG.

Some of the best scenes that made Season 1 so iconic, because you could tell it wasn’t the average TV show. Felicity is terrific (excluding bribery).

One of the most realistic moments from the entire series! One of my favorite parts of the entire series is how they portrayed parenting especially with Lynette in the first season. She had 4 young kids she was basically raising alone with a husband who traveled to pay the bills. The show didn’t portray her kids like other shows were all the kids were well behaved and acted like angels. Real life kids aren’t like that a majority of the time, they act out, throw tantrums and give you attitude. They captured the absolute desperation parents find themselves so often trying to raise young kids!

Idk how she survived their childhood. Her kids were honestly the worse and she had no help. Plus I think here Tom was taking those long business trips to visit the daughter he had out of wedlock. My mom had five kids, no help from my dad. I can just imagine us banging pots and pans and acting this way, we would have slept outside that night with la llorona.

Having kids doesn’t come with instructions. You’re allowed to feel blues, depressed and lost. It’s a little too damn easy to say « well don’t have them » it’s like « shut the fuck up you made them so deal with their shit without showing your emotions. ». We’re humans too ffs.

It is bizarre that Lynette is 'allowed' to day dream about killing herself but isn't 'allowed' (by the script writers) to even consider an abortion or better contraception.
@RocKsiJ4 жыл бұрын
the whole show never brought up abortion, EVER, while never being afraid to bring up tons of problematic topics. that's my favorite show but avoiding abortion is just so...it has to be on purpose & it's not even realistic
@Joe_Parmesan4 жыл бұрын
Or, at least adoption. Judging by the size of their family, I don't think Lynnette and Tom would've been in favor of abortion. In a flashback, Gaby quickly mentioned that she wantes Carlos to get a vasectomy, but he refused as it's against their religion. Danielle's pregnancy would've been a good time to discuss abortion, but I recall her adamantly wanting to raise her baby, partly to stick it to Bree. Julie's pregnancy was another opportunity
@RocKsiJ4 жыл бұрын
@@Joe_Parmesan yeah, or that adult woman that one of the twins got pregnant? Like...Lynette immediately went "We will help you and the child", and not even once a woman on the run was asked if she wanted to keep the baby, looks weird to me.
@crazylegskc3 жыл бұрын
Well, they did have her consider abortion indirectly (without saying the word) when she's pregnant in season 6 and tells Susan that she thinks maybe she shouldn't do the whole baby thing again. This was clearly meant to be a reference to her considering abortion. If they had dealt with the issue more explicitly or even had a character actually have an abortion, it would have been a very gutsy move by the producers.
@mengelemaestro892 жыл бұрын
you can blame the execs @ ABC for that actually, the creator had a whole subplot about abortion planned but ABC shot it down real fast

@@Mellow2599-oct let me tell you, it’s been 4 years, I’ve rewatched the show several times and guess what, Lynette is now my least favorite (with Susan, duh) 😭🤣 I can’t stand her in the 2 last seasons. She’s incredibly annoying, she pushed Tom to get a better high paid job but can’t stand that he can’t make it home anymore. Then says money changed him when actually he just stop doing as SHE sees fit. My money goes on Bree now which is hilarious bc I very much dislike conservative religious people but her arc was AMAZING. Edie and Renee are right behind her !
