This little nonexistent moment was probably one of her best moments, really talks about her character, how it hurt her as a mother to see his kid struggle but she fought the pain for a greater cause than just make things easier on him. Great mother moment.

I always thought Lynette was harsh in this scene when I was a teen but now as an adult and someone who worked with kids I totally understand why she didn't make him a sandwhich and seemed harsh that look and feeling of pride at seeing a him do it himself was priceless. Although I'm not a parent I can't explain how special a feeling it is when you see a child you have cared for accomplish a milestone all by themselves whether they have disabilities or a medical condition that hinders their development. Its amazing to see them learn and do it.

My friend has a son who went to live 200 miles further out for a new important job involving lots of transport and visiting institutions, schools. To build a new home and to get wed. He was in a wheelchair. He was born with a handicap, but would only be helped by siblings for the minimal. His parents would wait for him to get ready by himself. They always planned things carefully, timescheduled generously and had a life full of kids, volunteerwork, own firm and church. The son thrived as autonomously as possible through life with a lot of friends, family and work.
