This little nonexistent moment was probably one of her best moments, really talks about her character, how it hurt her as a mother to see his kid struggle but she fought the pain for a greater cause than just make things easier on him. Great mother moment.

I always thought Lynette was harsh in this scene when I was a teen but now as an adult and someone who worked with kids I totally understand why she didn't make him a sandwhich and seemed harsh that look and feeling of pride at seeing a him do it himself was priceless. Although I'm not a parent I can't explain how special a feeling it is when you see a child you have cared for accomplish a milestone all by themselves whether they have disabilities or a medical condition that hinders their development. Its amazing to see them learn and do it.

This scene made me cry because I have a disabled child and I do everything for her. I saw how hard it was for her to let him make that sandwich for himself and I got emotional because I really need to allow my daughter to be more independent but it is so hard.

I lost it. I wasn’t expecting that. The polishing part, yes, because that’s so Bree. But when she breaks down, 😭 whew, can’t watch that with anyone around. “It’s not real” “They’re just acting” But damn, she played that part very well.

This scene gets me every time I watch it. I have been a high functioning quadriplegic since I was 6 years old. My mother made me make my own sandwiches and do everything I could do for myself. She is half the reason I am able to live happily in my own home with an aide only 3-4 hours a day (getting in bed and out of bed as well as showers etc)

This actress perfectly captured how a parent has to make their handicapped child understand that their parents won’t be around forever to help their handicapped child with everything and to fight being handicapped and not let it hold you back from goals and success in life. I just saw this episode for the first time and was bawling...during lunch break at work! I'm blown away how the cast pulled this genius what if portrayal. I can verify that it is on par with what's really happening in our world today because I'm profoundly deaf and my parents are incredible parents who stuck around to see my success through, hence my bawling at work. Outstanding job!

My friend has a son who went to live 200 miles further out for a new important job involving lots of transport and visiting institutions, schools. To build a new home and to get wed. He was in a wheelchair. He was born with a handicap, but would only be helped by siblings for the minimal. His parents would wait for him to get ready by himself. They always planned things carefully, timescheduled generously and had a life full of kids, volunteerwork, own firm and church. The son thrived as autonomously as possible through life with a lot of friends, family and work.
