A Texas teen took cops on a terrifying 90-minute high speed chase after the accelerator pedal in his car jammed.
Frightening dashcam footage from the police car pursuing 16-year-old Elez Lushaj shows him weaving his Hyundai Elantra in and out of traffic at 120 mph on busy Interstate 30.
Audio from 911 operators hears him saying: "I'm stuck in my car, I can't stop. Please just do anything."
It ended after 113 miles when, swerving to avoid a truck, the car left the road and flipped four times. Fire crews had to tear off the car's roof to free him.
Incredibly, Lushaj walked away with only minor injuries.
Details of the incident, which happened in December 2012, are only emerging now.
WFAA reports that Lushaj called 911 for help on realizing the pedal was jammed. With a cop car in pursuit, operators even tried to call a Hyundai dealership to find a solution.
But no one could think of an answer.
Hyundai, the maker of Lushaj's car, says that the chances of a total system failure like the one alleged to have happened would be "almost impossible."
Hyundai now says that the chances of a total system failure like the one alleged to have happened would be "almost impossible."
A spokesman told CBS 11: "It is extremely unlikely there would be simultaneous and spontaneous failure of the braking, acceleration and transmission all at the same time."
He added that the Lushaj family had not contacted them.
The spokesman said: "We have a never heard from the driver, his family nor their representatives and have not had a chance to inspect the car in order to determine what went on here."
Audio from 911 operators hears the driver telling police: "I'm stuck in my car, I can't stop. Please just do anything."
And he added: "We would like to speak with the parties involved and take a look at the car. And we'd like to find out why this hadn't come to our attention for almost three months."
The National Traffic Safety Board said it may yet pursue an investigation.
