That’s $360 a month just on parking. Add fare for BART to go even to Oakland, $144 a month, SF $216 a month. Total $504 to $576 month just to go to work. Is it really cheaper than driving?!? I guess the only better part would be the RAPID part of BART. Because it’s definitely not saving money.

Oh screw this shit. I bought a week of daily parking at bart walnut creek. Parked there, and then got FIVE $63 "citations" because I parked... AT THE DAMN STATION. So now they say "oh that garage? That's not OUR garage..that's a different one" Even though all the signs lead to it and the sign says "Daily parking". 100% a scam.

I wonder how much of that revenue stream "needed" for future developments, is going to the pockets of the lawmakers, politicians, and other corrupt individuals who turn a blind eye to this hustle? The made it clear that a transit agency is being controlled by 3rd parties who do as they please, charge whatever they want for goods or parking, and face no push back from a government that should be protecting it's people.

The problem is obvious - there's almost no bus service in Walnut Creek, and the roads are hostile to bicycling. People have no other option but to drive. Ygnacio Valley Road needs a protected bike lane.

Then get a car.
@TohaBgood22 жыл бұрын
@@brianp5205 Everybody already has a car. The problem is that it is impossible to use a car to get around a dense urban area. That's what transit is for. There is no way to make room for all those cars without bulldozing one half of the city and paving over the other for parking. This worked in the 50s and 60s when a large part of the population was unable to afford a car but was still paying taxes for roads and highways. Now that most people can afford a car it's just not possible to continue living like this. We need to invest in proper transit like they do in Europe and Asia!

It's a tie for most miserably run entity BART, US POST OFFICE, OR DMV, but here's a heads up the Vallejo DMV has their crap together, lady greeting you at the front door and giving you paperwork and telling you where to sit or stand, go early 8-9 am without app and it's all good.

I promise you suburbanites that NO MATTER how much car parking you folks build, YOU will ALWAYS have a SHORTAGE of car parking spaces! I guess YOU people need to google up the term "INDUCED DEMAND"! Rather instead you folks should find MORE ways that DON'T involve driving a car to get to the BART Station OK!

Greedy Capitalism at work again. When you privatize you can guarantee higher cost with lesser services. Vote Bernie so we can have Medicare For All!!!
@TohaBgood22 жыл бұрын
What does this have to do with capitalism? If we built the parking structure from tax money we would still pay the same amount of money in the end, but it would come out of our taxes. This way only the people who want to park at BART pay for it. Isn't that fairer than charging the entire region for a piece of infrastructure that only some BART riders will ever use?
