He acted like it was something boring, but I think it's really interesting. Most of the "how I got here" stories we know are from auditioned members, so it's nice to hear more about a scouted member's experience. It's gotta feel crazy to get that kind of job offer, seemingly out of the blue. At any rate, I'm glad Ruze found a place here, and is comfortable. Not everyone can manage the indie to corpo transition, but he seems to be doing well, despite previous reservations.
@theoverlordbear4 күн бұрын
I'm surprised that scouted talents still are a thing in holo (I think I even read someone claiming that Mumei was also scouted?), but I suppose it's more understandable if it's done for the Stars because of their lower visibility in the industry. And as much as Ruze has doubts about the value of being an agency VTuber, I think that he exhibits a corporate professionalism that is sorely underrated, something that I think is especially embodied by HoloMarches, which exceeds the scale of the previous tabletop RPG campaigns that involved Stars EN members. I don't think Ruze would be able to manage that, especially not with the lesser popularity that it has, if he didn't have the guts to both be himself even if it means being a niche name and be considerate of the people who truly matter to him rather than use obsessive audiences to get ahead.
@ArseneWaltz3 күн бұрын
Is he really "scouted" though? Is that even possible with the current Cover right now? I think it's just his choice of word for an audition that he did just for fun and not actually considering to join Holo.
@HudaefCaresКүн бұрын
@@ArseneWaltzThat's Calli's story. She auditioned with a friend for Hololive for funsies as she was a bit of an idol culture anti at the time, in the end she got in but her friend didn't. (And I think her friend is still trying, I remember a clip of Calli kinda fretting if she's going something that's affecting her friend's chances at getting into Hololive) She was always clear in calling it an audition. Meanwhile Ruze clearly said "Coverman asked him if he wanted to do a job with them", that's... Kinda what scouting is, right?
@MyralinaBradford5 күн бұрын
Man, I get why he had the hesitation. Being a corpotuber must feel so different than from being an indietuber. Not just that, but he's going for Cover, which added the whole idol expectation to him. Needless to say, I'm glad he said yes, and I'm glad he found a home here.

I think what he describes is the same way Calli came in to it. She was not big on idol culture at all, but Cover seems to have a bit of a different way of doing things on the EN side especially.
@theoverlordbear4 күн бұрын
Ironically, I've seen a lot more of the idol culture negatives from the audience around VTubing outside Japan than from within Japan. Not that there isn't within Japan, with a certain firing in holo being one example of that, but for one, I'm amazed that Botan was able to pull off not only one but two mixed-gender Street Fighter 6 tournaments in her name, the second one even having Oga's Electroshock Deathmatch Tournament as an exhibition segment. Meanwhile, when I look at English-speaking audiences of VTubers, I tend to see my fellow men acting like organized criminals who can't believe that nerds can't be more than the stereotypes that they themselves even proudly live as much as they lament. So I feel like if Calli didn't assert her very own self as much as she did while under Cover, Cover might've ended up helping her become one of the usual objectified talents, which I think there still are a lot of even in EN. So yeah, I think it's not just because of Cover actively being healthy but also because of talents like Calli actively being healthy.

There’s just something very valuable about cantankerous sceptics and terminally honest people in Holo, because it keeps everyone from getting too lost in their own hype and losing perspective. And those holos further show that if there's any trouble in the community right now, it's usually coming from the audience, specifically posers and wannabes exploiting those weaker than they are. And the gossipmongers and rabble-rousers among those posers and wannabes especially show that there is such a thing as being too hard and skeptical.
