I grew up in a Colorado bison ranch. 3 things: 1, they really are incredibly docile and don’t really care what people do. 2, I’ve watched them charge and break off 8inch thick trees at the base… 3: no bison has ever been euthanized by the park service for hurting a human. About 3 people each year in yellowstone are hurt by bison. That part of the video was some foolish urbanite reporter thinking they treat herbivores like dangerous dogs and bears… 🤦‍♂️

They do both, but it is hard to enforce because there simply aren't enough rangers at the parks. If a ranger was present at that time, she'd be arrested, fined and banished. When I lived/worked/played at Yellowstone, I did what I could to provide the rangers enough information to find people like this, but unfortunately once they leave the park, that's that. Unless she actually touched the bison, then they'd hunt her down wherever she went.

It is so easy for people who hold power to be dismissive of the life of other creatures at the exact same time. I have heard that SOME creatures are supposed to be more likely to attack a human a 2nd time if they attacked a person a 1st time. This is probably out of a continued fear that (possibly dangerous) people WERE able to enter its territory & maybe get close to their young - even if the people didn't know the babies were close. Instead of punishing an animal though, (who felt threatened - the REASON for the attack), they should either just make the animals enclosure MORE secure & post BIG warnings for people NOT TO GO NEAR as ATTACKS HAVE happened before TO THOSE WHO WENT CLOSE to a wild animal. At worst, the animal should be moved to a reserve that does not get people ie. a rehabilitation centre or something (ALONG with its family) - it can't be made to look for food on its own if it never has needed to in the past. ALL these parks ETC. should also use TRANQUILIZER guns, INSTEAD OF SHOT GUNS - to subdue the animal quickly & get any injured person away. There is NO JUST REASON NOT TO!! Tranquilizer guns work in seconds!

A good 10 yrs ago, the San Francisco Zoo lost one of the most majestic Tiger it had, a beautiful specimen that was killed after it escaped its enclosure because a bunch of teenagers provoked it into attacking them, one was killed instantly as the tiger leaped and bit his throat

Not necessarily, my father didn't like me much and when we went to Yellowstone I was 11-12 years old and about 3' tall, I was SMALL, well he sent me to take pictures of a group of Moose. What I didn't know, or were told, was that Moose area extremely territorial and I was a couple hundred yards from our car and about 25 feet from the Moose which included very young moose, a couple of females and one very large bull that looked very annoyed with me. He started pawing the ground the way our bull back home would when getting ready to do something not good. So I got out of there slowly then at a dead run when I felt far enough away to run. All my father said was that stupid of you. Those things will kill you. A handy fact to have before you went to get close. I had two more close calls before we left there. One with a Brown Bear and one with a Grizzly and her two cubs. I have sent at least three 'guardian angels' into early retirement. The one I have now has lost a step or two but I'm 72 and not in great shape. So I think he is my last one.
