I've been listening to Dessa since a high school friend recommended her to me and I can only say that she's gotten so much better and she was originally phenomenal so keep that in mind. As a dyed-in-the-wool Metalhead this is the only kind of hip-hop I actually like.

I love Dessas music so much. I've been listening to her since middle school. Her music helped me feel less alone when every person I turned to wanted something from me without giving back (that's not an exaggeration family and "friends" and school staff) . She helped me feel strong when my life (as well as the lives of my family members) was turned upside down and gutted. She helped me feel like I could crash standing when I broke my (intensely) rose colored glasses, taking everything I knew with them. In fact, this exact song inspired me to create a character/book. It was just a silly idea at the beginning, just something to pass the time. But as I kept working on it, it became a large part of my life. During the process of writing this book I have learned so much, it has changed the way I look at the world and myself. Without this song I would never have started this project.

I saw her, Lazerbeak and Sims a few years back. It was a great show on a smaller place. Then I went to see the whole Doomtree crew and it was dope as well but felt a lil less personal. Dessa is an amazing artist, great rhymes and can actually sing. Her and Jean Grae are my top 2 favorite females and both are some of all time favorites period.
