A dessert similar to crepe is "ขนมเบื้อง Kanom Buang". It is a traditional Thai dessert. The white cream is meringue made from egg whites. And the yellow filling is made from egg yolks that are boiled in sugar syrup. And the mochi (Mow+Ji) that you eat is called Daifuku, it's another type of mochi. The original daifuku is stuffed with red bean paste or fresh strawberries. And when you ask for the price, say "เท่าไหร่คะ Tao Ri Ka". If it's a male, "เท่าไหร่คับ Tao Ri Kub", Thai people don't like to say baht. As for the question of how many baht? Thai language is very simple "กี่บาทคะ? Kee Baht Ka?" If asked how many baht in total, say "ทั้งหมดกี่บาทคะ? Thang Mod (Mod sounds like the word Mode) Kee Baht Ka"means How many Baht all of this? The word "ทั้งหมด Thang Mod"means All or All of this.😁😁🙏🙏

What is it like eating at markets in Thailand with an allergy? Say to gluten or nuts etc?

Hmmm that’s a good question! I don’t have any allergies at all myself so I haven’t had to really think about restrictions. With Michaels allergy to whipped cream we generally just don’t eat desserts that have whipped cream on the top! (Well.. he doesn’t 💁🏼‍♀️😂) He isn’t allergic to milk or anything just cream whipped in a can so there isn’t THAT much he has to avoid. I’m not sure about giving advice on things I don’t have experience with myself, but I would find it would be hard to navigate with gluten or nuts. I have seen some “vegan” cafes or stalls but they aren’t too common but they would probably be the easiest to work with!

I did ask Michael, he did say to tell you that you might have to learn to ask for GF and no nuts like I had to learn how to ask for no chilli 🌶 😂 He also said probably not from street markets or street food to be 100% safe, but there's some cafes that would do it but mostly in Chiang Mai maybe as that's more the "vibe" up there! Not as easy as home in Aus but sort of manageable! 😂 Hope that helps!
