Need to have an entire gulf coast weekly, or monthly at least, derby with enough monetary enticement to encourage at least 1,000 divers to participate each time.

The thing is, now they hide at depths below where divers can reach to, and some of them are wising up to only show up after evening.

Please advice on your tools: How to build or buy the fish container? Does the container is semi sealed (i.e., does mot allow fish blood the emerge into the nearby waters? Does multi pronged Hawaiian sling contain any Barbs or how do you easily remove a caught fish into the container? What special medication (First Aid Kit) should you carry in case you get stung? I've diving for more than 50 years and this looks like fun, entertainment and as service to our environment? Is there any guideline for the disposal of the fish caught? I am presently in Puerto Rico and the Lion Fish epidemic is growing! Have you ever been in problems with Sharks or Barracuda trying to take your caught fish (their free meal)? I have had many such encounters while diving for Grouper or Lobsters, solution, just cut the line and swim away in an orderly fashion. Would appreciate you feedback, Remember always to watch your Six, I have had many experiences with ever curious Barracudas following me as I swim or dive, just a suggestion from my experience!
@afogg20067 жыл бұрын
Hey Capt. I use a Zookeeper www.zkstore.com/. By far the best tool out there. It is semi sealed and blood does emerge but it is very safe and efficient. I use a 6 prong tip that does have a few barbs but the Zookeeper entry strips the fish off of the spear, no problem. Hot water is the best remedy for a lionfish sting. Monitor closely and if you have a severe reaction, seek medical attention. I try and get the lionfish into the zookeeper as fast as possible. It keeps hungry sharks, cudas and other species from getting too hungry!
