Destination Adventure

Жыл бұрын

When I got to Prince Rupert, I knew I wanted to visit Port Simpson, but I hadn't planned it as the first adventure. Sometimes I feel like places just call to me, and this year, Lax Kwa'laams was calling. The ferry was a stressful situation, but once arriving to the community, I realize why I was so drawn here. This location is remote, it is beautiful, it is plentiful, it has history and it is is pristine. Exploring in this area, you can see a few cut blocks from logging, and the occasional cabin, but it is 90% the same as it has been for thousands of years. It is rare to find a place like this, in this condition, but the indigenous communities a diligent to keep things this way.
Last years visit to Prince Rupert really made me fall in love with this area, and one video that was popular was my visit to Georgetown Mills. That location is actually on the territory of this nation, but I didn't get the chance last year to visit. Coming this year has been amazing because so many of the locals in this community have seen the channel now, and they are excited to see their town on the channel. I have been so welcomed into the community here and I am proud to have it on the channel.
I dont know what is even the highlight of this adventure. The ferry was a stressful situation, but we pulled it off. The whales were absolutely amazing to experience, and Work Channel is amazing. We had great weather and successful long days on the ocean. This is what adventure is really made of, and I am so excited to share it with you all. If you enjoyed this episode, I hope you may consider supporting the channel. This content is free, and I want everyone to enjoy it, but it is only possible because of the folks that are in a position to support. $4 a month goes a long way with a large group of supporters, and I am so thankful for you all.

That waterfall was stellar! The machine in the water was a yarder. It’s used to haul logs off the cut to the landing. Modern versions are still used. The small track would have come off of a log arch. As a logger it’s fun to geek out about the stuff when I see it on your channel. Thanks for the awesome vid.

@@ant-1382 That yarder, (my dad would have called it a "Diesel fake") was most likely used during the '40's or 50's. Sometime when the timber prices were high, it was high-ball loggin' ....in some cases, it was cheaper for the company to leave the machine than to barge it out.
