I am so surprised at the amount of people that have asked for a Doreen video, but sure enough you guys know a good place to explore. ;). There was less at Doreen than I had anticipated, but all of the unique rare old vehicles made it all worth while. And of course the scenery all around this area is amazing, so its all just a bonus. There were several vehicles here I had never seen before, and one car that I had never even heard of, and its all just sitting out there in the forest. I am very curious how they all got in there, because until recently there was not a road to access this little town. The only access for the lifespan of Doreen was either the Skeena river, or the Railway.
Funny enough, Doreen still has one full time resident that lives there year round, but unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to meet that person.
To all of the folks that have restored and maintained these old buildings, great job! It is so interesting walking through an old "Ghost town" like this, and getting to actually see how it looked and was set up.
I thank you all for watching, and I truly hope that you enjoyed the explore. If you do enjoy my channel, I ask that you please consider taking a look at the Pateron page. Patreon gives me the opportunity to continue to travel and make these videos for all to enjoy. It also helps give me a little bit of money to enjoy "regular life" things as well, because my life tends to get quite consumed with work and the Channel. Big thank you to each and every one of my current supporters. Much love.

More on Dorreen, as I said, lived there until I was 15, we owned the old Frost place on 12 acres, went to the one room school, there were 9 of us kids in one family, raised a huge garden, had so much fun out there, wonderful neighbors, had pickniks at Fidder creek and fishing was so good, used to babysit Dolsa Handson who still lives there today, best life ever for kids to grow up in. My dad had a old international truck which my older sister drove around with all of us in the back, it is still sitting up in the area with the other trucks, cars, oh how I would love to come back for a visit, the Horwells used to own and run the store for so many years,

I was in the area in the late 60s early 70s working for CN Telecommunications. Our gang was in Doreen to do maintenance work at that time. We were also in Kitwanga for a while moving all the telegraph lines so a siding could be put in for the new sawmill. There was no bridge across the river yet. I was also in Pacific for a few days but it was already pretty much abandoned then.

WoW, I seen the car why I clicked on the video because I knew this car was in Doreen, not realizing that it’s the exact same car, amazing I tell ya, what’s sad is that they logged and had built a road right to Doreen, the price pine mushroom picking was great, the hunting habitats where also great but it’s unfortunate there no more, if you would’ve fallowed the trail along the tracks you would’ve found our old camp site from the eagle tribe territory, old log cabins etc. I remember mostly the lady Dulsa and George he was well over 6’ feet tall and a old football 🏈 player, man thanks for sharing, I guess I gotta take a drive now instead of the passenger train. My main concern is that people could just drive there and collect those priceless items 😢

You can get a ballpark date of old cars from the 50s to the 90s or so by looking at the tail lights, assuming they're intact, of course. The design had to be approved by the SAE and would have that date molded into the lens. The date will be the first year of use when the same design was reused for more than one year, so it's not always exact. Also, not every car has dated taillights but the majority do.

I used to travel across the country with a magazine sales company based out of Kelowna. I came across 1 town in each province that was on the map (back b4 GPS when the area you got to was on pages 34 and 72....real pain in the you know what lol), anywho, each province always had something in common, and it was always a ghost town that had an area where the train hit a turntable of sorts that would in essence ve the end of the line and the locomotive was able to literally get turn back in the other direction. Some of these towns didn't even have names anymore so sadly this is just another silly "ghost story". If you have possibly been to any of these forgotten towns or something similar could you let me know what they were called? Or maybe this is the next big idea for next season to go in search of these places? Just also want to let you know that I think all your episodes are really interesting and you do a wonderful job showing us it all😊
