These cars are considered by so many (at least by car people) as a pinnacle of human design and automotive achievement. This, coupled with the emotional connections that cars have the ability to instill, makes this such a fascinating watch. It's a stark reminder that all cars are just objects, subject to the elements and decay as much as anything else. An wreck can end the life of any car, no matter the monetary or sentimental value, as well as the lives of its occupants in just an instant.

Like the California town of Bodie this place needs to stay intact in a state of arrested decay. Many including my self are amazed at this collection. On the other hand the value of much, other than complete cars, is limited to another parties needs. And if that need was significantly strong these pieces would be gone already. Like Rudi many will bid at the auction hoping to catch a ride on his dream. But whether that dream ascends or spirals downward will depend upon their drive and wallet thickness as they attempt to make something of this assemblage of what individually were someone else's - broken dream. Excellent presentation BTW!

This “Junkyard” has grown over the Years as beautifully and uniquely as a beautiful Forest. Very beautiful and very rare Cars. Destroying this Collection and sending it to the World is a shame because my German Heart is bleeding. I just hope that many of the rusty Cars find a new Owner and are not just dismantled for Parts. Interesting, my shop is just north of this location on Alameda. I drove by the yard a good 30 years ago and they had the doors open. Looking in was very surprising, to say the least. Thought I was seeing things all those years ago, until I came across this video! Thanks for supplying my fading memory with solid evidence!

Hey Magnus, really enjoyed your tour. I had only seen this place in the background of parts and car auctions in the past and always wondered exactly where and what it was. I'm in Canada where all the foreign stuff left is mini Coopers and MGs, most of the Porsches have gone to the States or back to Germany so this is kind of refreshing. Cheers!

Hello Magnus. verry nice from you, how you talk about the german cars. Yes., they are great. All the Porche LG. and the Maybach D8 , Mercedes and so one. You can see directly what it is, also when they crashed. ...The best think is, to buy all cars and hole place and restored all what is posible. The estimate of 365 about 3000 to 6000 Doller will be ok. I know, that you have spend much more money to fit one, but I think the US Sun will be spare about the Rost. So , I know, It is possible to get all material by Porche in Stuttgart to make a NEW one. Now , you have find a rich men to buy all and make a big buisness. When you sell the 300 SL and the 540K you have the money for the rest on the place and start. I live in Germany, so it will not possible for me. But I make some cars in scale 1/87 for remember of Rudi Klein. Lg. Gregor
