Thanks to the crossovers and Spider-Verse events, yes, but originally Peter Parker was definitely an accidental hero. It's definitely shifted to destined since very early in the Spider-Verse comics, but back in 2002 and 2012 Tobey and Andrew were still seen as heroes of accident because the general public didn't know about the web of life and destiny yet.

I'd argue that Weapon X was anything but an accident. They basically knew his healing factor could make it work, they just tested it out on him. He's more Defiance because they wanted him to be a living weapon, but he's tried at every turn not to be.

Calling Cap and Vision accidents is a little out of pocket. Steve went through a planned government experiment that went as planned. Vision was created by the Mind Stone to counter the failed AI it created in Ultron.

His powers came from an accident (stumbling on the temple of Khonshu while mortally wounded), and in the show's current timeline, he's defying Khonshu by trying to get out of the pact to be his avatar. Stephen was basically the X factor that made that happen. Just look at his suit. It was nothing like what Khonshu had given before (as far as we know), and Khonshu had no patience for his presence throughout the series. Once Marc embraced that aspect of himself, he was able to free himself from that servitude (technically).

When is Marvel going to see the potential of what the MCU can become and put Eric in charge of making sense of all the shitty decisions that have been made in the past? For quite some time now I wasn't able to see a clear path forward for the MCU and suddenly after this video everything fits like a glove, that of course if Disney/Marvel knew how to play their cards correctly! He could also be considered defiant because he took that destiny and did things he wasn't supposed to do with his powers to save. Like using the time stone, which their job was to protect it not use it, to save Earth from dormammu. And inevitably used the darkhold to beat Wanda too. Although, debatably whether that has negative effects we are yet to know.

I feel that Dr.Strange is a Destiny Hero, because on Xfinity Wars when Bruce jumped back into time to retrieve the time gem from Dr.Strange, he was met by the "Supreme" Tilda Swanson who told Hulk that Stephen Strange is performing Surgery at the Hospital he works at. Dr.Strange was always Destined to be Sorcerer Supreme.

11:44 How can Kang go back and kill ancestors to change things? I thought they can’t change the past like Back to the future (they joke about it in Avengers). But only creates yet another timeline. Which brings to question, how did they go back on Lokis series and give young Kang the TVA manual? How can they go back in time to change things when the whole point of Loki was that they can’t, it just creates more versions of people. So if Kang tries to kill ancestors, it would just create more timelines and not take away current heroes. Unless I just misunderstood how the time traveling works.

On the matter of Victor Timely getting the book, the shortest and most logical answer to his significance is that he isn’t He Who Remains or any specific version of him. He’s just a variant of him that was born in the 1800’s and named Victor Timely, a genius like all the others but limited by the technology of his time until Ravonna caused a branch under He Who Remains’ orders. The whole of season 2’s plot was arranging a scenario where Loki would develop his time manipulation abilities and loop back to that moment in the Void of his death, the Void being a space where time manipulation can alter reality without creating branches, and prevent it. Victor was a means to an end to He Who Remains, but Loki’s refusal to undo his death or at least continue monitoring reality through pruning branches (essentially destroying realities and preventing newer versions of them or the beings that come from it from growing in their place like a regenerated limb) foiled his plans.

Meh. This is just the Mary Sue problem with extra steps. The 'heroes of accident' had a hero's journey overcoming their own shortcomings and failures. The first examples of 'heroes of destiny' (non-Marvel) also had their own hero's journey, however most of the phase 4 Marvel Universe heroes are Mary Sue's like Captain Marvel - with no shortcomings and no journey. They are just supposedly awesome and do awesome stuff because they are so awesome. You can't buy into the characters because there is no ride with them to start to like them and see them develop.

I think destiny is the least fitting of Moon Knight. You could argue defiance of death or Khonshu, but I think accident fits better. He nearly died on a botched mercenary mission and just happened to do so in front of a temple dedicated to Khonshu. Khonshu is really manipulative in the comics, so he really just took advantage of Marc's fractured mind and claimed it was destiny and fate and what not, but there is another "fist of Khonshu" in the comics and a whole lineage of Moon Knight equivalents that came before Marc. Marc's mental conditions are unique to him, but they don't really enhance or detract from his work with Khonshu. None of the others had it - someone feel free to fact check this, but I don't think his fractured mind was was even part of the original moon knight comics.

Plus, Dr. Strange was in an accident, but what made him the Sorcerer Supreme was his defiance to accept the results of the accident. Plus, as you later on pointed out, the Ancient One said he was also destined to become the Sorcerer Supreme… so he rather fits the categories you didn‘t put him in.

I’d say Captain America falls into a completely different category: hero by choice. He only became a hero and went through the super soldier program because he wanted to protect people. That’s what made him such a great hero. There are probably other examples of heroes like that, I just can’t think of any off the top of my head.
