For expansions they said they’d start making us 4 (new) PvP maps a year 2 reprised 2 new, or something like that, then instantly was like well that’s too much, then they give us a map mostly designed with rift in mind with disjunction. We’ve told them why we don’t enjoy the map, instead of making spawn changes, they lowered its frequency which is still too high, and that map is a reskin of a D1 map. Then in the state of the game they make it sound like a single map creation or even porting D2 maps we already had is too much work. I’m not a game dev I’m sure it is work, but as a customer that’s not my problem. As a PvP player, more maps, even if they are old D2 maps is way more interesting to me to play than a new party game mode that’s mayhem with extra steps. Like they heard our concerns but told us your concerns are not ours. It’s just a total disconnect.

At the end of the day, I don't think my feedback matters anymore. That's really the danger of how Bungie's chosen to engage with us and their game... I'm beginning to think I am no longer the target audience, so I have largely moved on. Even Curse of Osiris didn't do that for me; I stuck around, mostly because I DID enjoy the PvP at the time. If the PvP isn't enjoyable for me, and the PvE bores me in the same way it always has, then why do I stick around? If Bungie doesn't care enough to support the PvP, then why should I care enough to support them? I hate the negativity, but I've reached a genuine boiling point lately. And so, I've decided to take a break from the game until the season before FS. It's not worth screaming into a void that isn't going to scream back... and well... the break's been so nice that I might not come back.

Hopefully the new mode can shake things up and return a portion of pvp back to year one days. It obviously won't change the outliers that haven't been tuned, but at least it's something in the interim. I could just have Stockholm syndrome, but I'm thinking they have bigger plans post final shape that they can't discuss rn which is partially why the article felt so bad. I just can't believe that they spent a bunch of money hiring ppl and opening a massive second studio and no major improvements come of it on our end.

wtf do you kids even want? the game is 6 fucking years old now. you act like you want the entirety of destiny 2 to evolve into some different game over night, which is NEVER going to happen. what do you fucking expect??? "ive been playing this game for 6 year and i want things to be different!" and then you children dont even explain what you want, because you dont fucking know what you want, you only know you want more of it and NOW! we literally have never had this many legos to play with in bungies sandbox. we are overloaded with activities, bounties and side quests. what do you want? the truth of the matter is that you kids are simply never satisfied, even when you get what you think you want. destiny is so large that they literally sunset a large portion of the content in the game a few years ago. then theres the minority players, the pvp base, who are crying about how many maps they have. TWENTY FIVE maps are live in the crucible, goddammit. adding one more here and there isnt going to change the overall pvp experience. then of course the same 2 braincell wielding morons cry about "not enough pvp content!" hey morons, your new weapons ARE the pvp content, why the hell are you farming for those godrolls anyways? so you can go go run VoG for the 30th time? LMFAO!!! as if people grind weapons just to go do even more pve. those new fancy weapons only ever get used in pvp, if at all. lets face it, our pve builds dont change very much unless its to coincide with the seasonal artifact. we lock in for the season and then grind our patterns/rolls. we take those rolls out for a spin in the crucible, because theres no reason to take those same rolls into pve because our loadout is already set in stone for predictable, repetitious pve activities. pvp IS the end game. thats always been the goal. average players just dont have the general perception to realize this. its all about perspective, and if yours is warped and/or limited, then youre going to be having a bad time. meanwhile i'm trying out new builds and weapons on the fly, having a grand ol' time every time I play this 6 year old game. the meta doesnt even exist from my perspective, because theres literally an infinite combination of ways to play this game. those AW titans with their crayola banners were never a threat to begin with, because i'm too busy playing in ways that they simply arent prepared for. me and your average destiny player? we're playing 2 different games, and mine is the superior option.

Saying this from a place of love. I've have a destiny poster on my wall since I was in school 8 years ago playing d1. The destiny community is full of people who will pay for any crumb of content regardless of how empty the core destiny gameplay loop has remained. Even they are starting to wonder about the future of the game. I'm certain there is plenty of passionate talent working at bungie, but as a whole, bungie really treats destiny more like a single player game than a live service game meant to have engaging end game content.

Bungie wanted at the beginning of Destiny 2 for people to treat the game like a hobby. A world we wanna be in. They got that since then, and have been actively ignoring those people that took Destiny 2 and turned it into a hobby. Source: One of the very first State of Destiny 2 after PC launch.

I'd been playing Destiny since 2018. Found some damn good content creators like Cammy, who introduced me to Sidezz. Both taught me that you can do some cool shit in PVP, and gave me the confidence to help me get over the anxiety I'd get playing against other people online. So even if I'm not really feeling the game anymore, I'm grateful for the things it did give me, if nothing else.

I'd like armor ornaments for every rank. Hell, want to know how you'd drive engagement into comp/PvP through the roof? Make it drop Artifice Armor after a win, guaranteed (that way players that don't win consistently have a smaller goal while they work up towards the bigger goals). Imagine getting some sick ornaments for hitting a new rank, and being able to slap that on some new Artifice Armor you had drop during your play session? Hell, if that's not enough? Then once you reach the max possible rank (10,000), drop the Rose/Mercurial Overreach weapon patterns for crafting. Could you IMAGINE the absolute frenzy for comp that would happen? They're still in the playlist as random drops/pinnacle rewards, so you could get a competitive roll from that, but the crafted ones would be highly coveted in the same way Not Forgotten was.

Bungie: “We can’t do this because it’s too hard.” Destiny community: “We suggest you figure out how to make it not.” In all seriousness, I really think we need to move on until there is a D3 equivalent. There are just too many factors working against D2 to make it worthwhile over the long term any more. Unless it comes down to solely dev resource availability (that Bungie actually addresses) it may be the game is going to be on a definitive downward trend until it is retired.

D2 vanilla launch - 6 years ago, I paid obscene amounts of money (thanks to the indian economy and bnet) from my dorm room to buy and play a Bungie game again. Keep in mind - Nearly no one has owned an Xbox, or heard of Bungie or Halo, in India. Over time, a lot of my IRL friends got into the game. Mostly from watching me play in my dorm room. A lot of their mutual friends got into the game too. At a point, my discord had 15~20 people, all of whom played destiny like a job. Have you ever been in privates with 15 chill people? I have, and it's as much fun as you expect it to be. Since WQ release, tho, we started bleeding folks. My discord still has these people, but no one logs on anymore. And if they do, it's never Destiny. Just 4~5 people at a time are active, playing either Overwatch or Remnant or Minecraft. No one even gives a shit about the weekly raid or GMs anymore. Off late, everyone in my discord has started talking quite passionately about the game, talkign about what they feel turned them off of Destiny. Some blame Light 3.0 homogenizing the already known power fantasies of the classes. Some blame the PvP abilities balance (or lack thereof). Some have simply tuned out of the narrative since it never takes a confident step in any one given direction, ever, not even enough to be memorable. Lightfall was the biggest example of this, taking so many steps in no direction that it literally went nowhere. Some blame weapon crafting for taking the fun out of weapons - ala D2Y1's static rolls again. Some blame the laughable lack of engaging difficulty options, and commensurate loot drops for the same. Some blame things outside the game - DLC Monetisation, Eververse, Dungeon Keys, the difficulty in bringing new friends onboard due to the above. The sorry state of Weekly DripFeed, Inc. , or how we get no PvP or Gambit love, ever. The communication (or again, the lack thereof) around all, or most, of the above. Whatever the cause of distaste, the one thing everyone agrees on - Bungie does not care what we think. They will do what is profitable. Destiny 2 is, without a shadow of the doubt, the most successful live-service game in the world. We know this, because every Destiny killer has died - That's why Sony bought them. That's why NaughtyDog are taking orders from Bungie on how to make a Live Service TLOU. And Bungie has clearly sold its f---ing soul to get here.

I think the only issue with witchqueen were AE, sbmm and just the nerfs that started to ruin the feel of pvp gunplay. I thoroughly enjoyed 30th anniversary pvp. After witchqueen, the pve started to fall off. So I have no clue where all there devs went when the pve started to get just meh but I feel it may have been all the bugs and just issues in general trying to hold the sinking ship together ya know?
