The removal of anti-taken/hive/fallen mods is pretty warranted to be honest. That stuff was super unbalanced and basically was super cheesing the non raid content. Like gambit. Like dungeons. While I do wish that this was said much sooner, it doesn't bother me too much. Overall, I'm looking forward to the changes. Very solid quality of life stuff.

But for all we know, they could have been stuck on it for a while. With only close to 4 weeks left though, yeah, this could have been communicated better, especially considering that something like this should have been announced before the first planned launch date of Beyond Light. Though to be fairly honest, the only mods that were actually somewhat hard to get were the Fallen mods. The Hive mods dropped from Menagerie. Sotp isn't even that hard of a raid though, so it's not that big of a loss.

While I will miss armaments, it is probably healthy for them to be removed. Kinda annoyed that I will have to regrind raid armor for the 5th slot, but I will probably only need 1-2 pieces, and one of them can be the class item without much issue unless I actually want a full set of GOS armor for boss damage (but I generally run Div anyway simply so I don't have to slot those mods in the first place.) Exotics getting a CwL slot and enhanced level mods being a little cheaper, alongside non-elemental weapon mods is going to be awesome for me. Even at just 1 cheaper, that will give me 4 energy open on the class item vs 2, and 6 energy to play with on gloves between reload mods and CwL.

@@hypernoxious Honestly, I've had just plain bad luck when it comes to Raid Mods. I barely got any of them despite trying to loot them as often as possible. Not to mention that the Taken mods are locked to 6 chances maximum per week, which might seem like a lot, but I don't think I've seen a Taken mod in months. I'm just going to guess that this is the price I have to pay for getting 1KV in about 10 runs, Tarrabah in 2, and Anarchy in about a dozen.

I'm not, armaments are great for a great weakness of destiny, the randomness of getting heavy ammo can mean that two teams with equal skill can have different out comes when doing an encounter, just bc after the first damage phase one team got screwed over by the lack of heavy ammo and can't do enough damage in the second phase to kill whatever boss

Important note for CwL. You can have 2 arc CwL mods on two separate pieces of armor, and both will activate their second perk. It also still activates when paired with an arc mod on the same piece of armor -- you just cant use an arc weapon mod to activate it anymore.

So here's my thoughts on why the Species Specific mods are being deprecated (from an optimistic POV): this allows bungie to more carefully control how difficult an engagement is. They no longer have to ride the middle ground of Average-Max Stated player and instead can play around JUST average players.

I don't know if you remember auto-reloading well and nade launchers but that literally made everything easy mode. So the bridge encounter in Reckoning was built with the main intention of killing guardians by knocking them off the edge. That is the kind of balancing that happens when everything is broken.

I am SO FUCKIN HAPPY they’re doing raid specific slots on raid armor tbh. Not being retroactive is a bummer for sure, but it actually makes raid armor special again, giving you actual, tangible benefits in the raid that only the raid armor can use. And since it ONLY affects the raid, it’s probably MUCH easier to balance. EXCELLENT move bungie, bravo.

The 5th slot thing might have be an issue with the data structure they use (normally their Armor 2.0 only supports up to 4 mod slots). The Combat Style mod slot, the way it is phrased, to me indicates they are either going to be additively introducing new mod families and have those be accepted by all armor going forward, or it means that the slot is dynamic and can be changed during new seasons to, for example, rotate out CWL for the season in favour of a new mod family that they introduce.

I think every change is great, to be honest. I can see why they’ve limited the Raid mods the way they have, it all makes sense. I was surprised to read they’d balanced Last Wish with Taken mods in mind, though, not sure I ever used the one Taken mod I have there...
