@@Shorkshire Plunder did link well though. As Calus became a disciple the Witness turned their attention back to the Eliksni. So, we had the return of Eramis. To this end we had 3 connecting plot threads that linked it strongly to the rest of the world. 1. Worldbuilding about the Witness' impact on the world and the Eliksni's Past. Nezarec has been known about for a while so by fleshing them out it helps make the witness feel like a bigger part of the world while setting up future events. 2. Gathering non military resources and developing relationships important characters and factions. Guardians are defenders of humanity, not soldiers. 3. While the plot is clearly ramping up for all out war it's good to have a breather season to keep the pacing steady and help balance out the tone for the year. If we didn't this (and likely next year) would be one dark moody season.

I remember how Osiris used to speak back in 2018, he always sounded in control and aware of everything. But now, his words seem tainted with apprehension and doubt. In the opening cutscene he frantically paces up and down, flailing his arms, this isn't the statue of logic I'm used to seeing. I know for a fact that this is the real Osiris, but at the same time just like when a Guardian loses their ghost he seems so much more mortal now. He's driven to prove his trustworthiness for something I cannot understand, I have to assume that he knows for a fact that everyone knows it's really him and not another trick by the Witch Queen. But the question remains, what is he trying to prove?

He has been through a lot, he was somewhat aware when he was used as a puppet and is now mortal, it makes sense he would be a bit less calm. He wants to prove his visions are important but most (somewhat understandably) think they are just tricks left by Savathun.

I think he is trying to prove to himself that he is okay. Could you imagine the depth of the schism of his psyche? He has incoherent fragments of billions of years of the hive God of Cunning's memories interlaced with his own. He's suffering an unprecedented identity crisis. Somewhere in this season's lore (armor piece I think) he is in front of the Schnell building and has flashbacks to memories of Savathun when she was disguised as him. The magnitude of memory restoration imparted by consumption of Neztea hasn't been strictly articulated, but said magnitude is likely colossal. His psyche could well be being burdened with billions of years of Savathun's experiences.

My favorite part of the lore for this dungeon is that it makes the Vex a significant threat in the main narrative. Most of the time the Vex are just nameless, faceless antagonists that we have to stop because time travel bad, or something. Here, they are servants of the Witness, directly attempting to hinder progress of our current objective.

How do we stop the vex too? Everyone dismissed them as a neutral threat that will just always exist no matter what. But now they have a proper objective/someone with there thumb over them. I’m sure there would be a way for him to possibly infect the rest of the vex since they are one ?

Looked into it recently and the story I found, as speculated in lore somewhere apparently, is that the vex have possibly always been around, they traveled to planets on asteroids and whatnot (as their microscopic selves no robot bodies yet lol) and built themselves up, they continued learning and eventually learned about the witness, sword logic etc. Now they calculate everything they can in every timeline so that they will survive till the final shape of the universe, the sol divisive are a sub faction that must have calculated that joining the darkness was the best option. I'm both surprised (and concerned) that after all we've done their aren't any vex trying to join us

I really wanna know everything about the Augermind. My takeaway is it fractured itself, one part would eventually end up with the exotic that drops from the dungeon, and the other being the on-board AI for whatever ship eventually got to Neomuna, presumably, but there is stuff in the lore about Dr. Bray. What is his involvement? Super excited to hear your thoughts!

The fact that part of the augermind is on the bow is Clovis' fault. Apparently, the mind detected the rapid approach of the dark fleet before anyone else, and instead of doing launch tests for the colony ship it was installed in, it overrid Clovis' commands and executed an actual launch to save the colonists. Clovis then used the spire to trap the mind, but not before it managed to send the ship on a safe route to habitable planet (which i imagine would have been Neptune).

Nice to see the Ishtar back. I miss going to Venus and wish they would find a reason to bring it back as a destination. The Archive on Venus contained maps of pathways to other galaxies. I wonder if the talk of extrasolar colonies is a potential set up for future stories? We know they plan to continue the game beyond The Final Shape and you have to wonder what's next? Maybe we finally leave the solar system for new territory?

If we do end up going outward, we're gonna need new maps. One of the new weapon lore tabs shows how the A.I in charge of one of the colony ships detects *ALL* habitable planets in the Andromeda galaxy get taken out in real time by an anomaly (the darkness fleet). I'm talking going from 30k+ planets to 200+ to 2 in a matter of seconds. And that happened right before the collapse. I imagine there won't be much left by now.

I do like how this dungeon is similar to Shattered Throne in its ending. We think we have won, but in truth it was a ploy. We lost. Sure we stopped the Vex from using the Spire to imprison Rasputins subminds, but that wasn't their main objective. They got what they needed about Neonuma, purged any reference to it and then set the spire to explode. We only prevented the third one of that list.

Back in D1 i was so confused becuase i didnt understand how everything was connected to the darkness. All the factions were enemies and only the hive and vex even thought of the darkness as something to worship. So i had a theory back then that eventually the two relatively neutral factions would either be removed from the game or would split and some would join us and other would officially side with the darkness. Its crazy to see at least one of my predictions was right.

Many of our enemies we once fought, defied us with relatively shallow motives. But for the Witness to move a large group of Vex, a race better described as a hive mind of billions of microorganisms (within frames), with greater purpose and deeper motives that are not as easy to uncover.. it just shows how persuasive and influential the Witness is. To be able to move its pawns across the chess board to where we barely see it’s subtle moves. Savathun seemed to once “scattered the pieces of they’re grand game”. As does Eramis. But the Witness seems like a player that won’t easily tolerate our defiance.

The thing about extrasolar locations is currently being hinted in the Seraph Bunkers. If you stop at the map room and look at the solar system map you see that Uranus and Neptune are offline and the lights showing them are off. You also see there is a band past Neptune which may or may not be the Kuyper Belt bit more interestingly enough there is a 5th Gas Giant planet outside that belt that if it is the Kuyper Belt then would mean outside our solar system.

It's telling that when comparing our story to the dark future we're seeing almost everyone of note being much more proactive. Elsie is sharing their family history with ana, zavala seems to be less hands on at all times, osiris is alive for now and we are actively hunting all the knowledge to at least duel the witness on some what even footing not to mention the fact that both ikora and eris are basically healed from there own personal pains. Assuming the end point of the dark future we read is a century or two ahead of current time the fact that we're able to put up any new offensive at all is a positive. My guess is lightfall will end in a deadlock and we get to explore even more abilities and stuff.

My guess is that the Witness and the Traveler will cancel each other out. With them gone the guardians and the powers from Arc Solar Void and Stasis will be inaccessable ending the series as everyone either moves on or the guardians and Vanguard as well as the villains who have died or been transformed also die.

Finally a game gets something right in regards to nuclear power production. Not entirely sure how a reactor would go prompt critical via power surge, but I could understand a few avenues that could lead to that ending. Granted, if the reactor is going prompt critical by power surge alone, then that's just a piss-poor reactor design and it deserves to die a molten death. However, considering the age of the complex, along with a general lack of regular, preventative and corrective maintenance being conducted over the centuries, I can understand how some reactor safeguards could have gone haywire or be entirely defunct.

Eh there was no note of surprise about it, just a remark how unusual it is to find them outside of the garden, which is a correct observation to make as ya yourself note by only bringing up the moon as the only time we seen them outside.

@@Wah_Corp Can't remember if it was a weapon or seasonal armor piece but he is actively being watched by Hidden agents, at least Aunor so there is suspicion behind him and it isn't really unwarranted. Had they been more judicial before, maybe they would've caught on to Savathun masquerading as him and they can't allow a trick of hers to happen twice.

i feel like being the player and already knowing so much about neptune and neomuna kind of ruins the gravity of this situation, at least for me. a lot of this surrounding osiris and building subminds back again feels lame because we already know how it's gonna go and where it's gonna take us

I don’t really understand how the witness knows to search mars and what he’s looking for more importantly why is Calus and the witness going for neomuna when the traveler is on earth? What’s the purpose and what’s the point

So do we actually know that the Vex and the Witness are teaming up? What if they wanted to keep the knowledge about Neptune for their own but because we have stopped them, now the witness knows also about Neptune?

Since its specifically Sol Divisive Vex Osiris made a very safe assumption they are working for the Witness, plus we know even other Vex treats the Sol Vex as hostile, so they aren't really in a position to be doing it for the Vex race as a whole.

@@Awoken_Remmuz And there is also the fact that Pyramids were seen in the vision The Witness gave us at the end of Shadowkeep, which takes place in the Black Garden and how the Sanctified Mind was feeding on a Pyramid scale. Although I wonder what the connection The Witness has with The Black Heart. The original Darkness entity the Sol Divisive worshiped back in D1. A symbol of the Black Heart is seen throughout Rhulks Pyramid. As one of the many symbols throughout the raid.

Pretty certain that Eramis infiltrated the facility when she was in House Devils (in the past) - hence the Devil sigil on the monitors. I've not listened to them all though, so I have no idea if this theory holds up
