Totally agree. I knew it was a running thing and had more "legit" references recently, but I didn't realize how robust his infamy is now. In Warframe, Digital Extremes has a similar enemy fan mascot called Clem. The player that originally cooked him up passed away recently, and DE made him a tribute for [IRL player] in one of the social spaces. Clem.

I love the idea that the Reaver is an immortal thief. Rasputin, SIVA, Gjallahorn, the Loot Cave, and Archie. Seems like wherever there’s powerful weaponry or technology to be found, the Reaver will be there to take it for himself. He even picked up a sizeable crew in his latest appearance, good for him! You have to wonder if maybe Avarokk, who has the same cloak as Taniks as well as prosthetic arms like him, might have come to Old Russia because he heard rumors of another legendary undying pirate.

His real name is Rahndel The Undying. But like how Misraaks got called “Mithrax”, someone must have heard his true name but called him “Randal”, thus the name stuck. Who knows what power keeps him coming back to life, perhaps like a Scorn, but perfect.

What if this entire time Randal has actually been a Lightbearer? With a Ghost and all. His Ghost would have realized the issue accidently raising of an Elinski vs a Human at the time being a total possible firecracker into a world of trouble for him. And has just hid it the entire time---much like The Drifter learned to hide the fact he was one during the Dark Age, but never using the light directly because would make him a target to the City for various reasons. To the point where Misraaks might have heard stories of some Vandals that seemed to be able to go toe-to-toe with Guardians; but never able to contact them or connect the dots was Randal due to him not actually being aligned to any house in reality. That being due to him hiding after each death so none would figure out the same one found at various places. Just changing clothing based on a group of dead Elinski found in area, which is why he was able to get involved in Devil Splicers, and during the Red War was near the Traveler's shard because same vision every other Guardian got, then went back to Old Russia assuming to live a fairly peaceful life. Even with fresh Risen Lightbearers popping up, because their tall tales of a Vandal being hard to kill will be chalked up to inexperience, low light level, and crappy gear. Sadly, Randal the Vandal not knowing that he could possibly now go to The City, because he doesn't know how or is too afraid to contact the House of Light; especially after seeing what happened with Hive Lightbearers events and the current Shadow Legion forces around. All we know how to do is Shoot, Punch, Stab to him.

If bungie did adress Randall seriously in future lore I would not be surprised if he was a Fallen Guardian. It would not only explain how he comes back from the dead so many times but would also explain how he came back Siva Free. Since he's living amoung the Fallen he might be reluctant to use his powers and keeping it a secret from his peers, hence why he is alone in the forgotten shore most of the time.
