Something important to note about the Ammonites: the Traveller gifted them a song called the "song of life", which must have been pretty powerful because the Hive were eventually able to create a mirrored version of it in the form of the first Deathsong. This original Deathsong was so powerful that 12 Deathsingers spaced out around a planet could singlehandedly bring it to ruin.

Honestly not having Ir-Uulxal not attack me was... Not unnerving but definitely made me feel really odd. He didnt stare at the wall, he just stood there tracking all my movements. It felt like he was analyzing me and gauging my combat prowess. When i got near him he almost immediately deleted me which was really cool to see. This hive champion of war, just hyper analyzing everything i do and when i finally approach him out of curiosity he kills me immediately. Shit was cool.

An Easy way to headcanon-fix the "narrative incongruance": The Lucent Hive arent pushovers. They were fighting off Xivu Araths Horde just like us. We found the last holdouts at the top of the Spire. Is this doing Xivu Araths work for her? No, because once Xivu Araths Horde gets there, so will 3 other Guardians. People are constantly running this activity. Also, i really thought that Leviathan-Eater, Bane of the Ammonites was Kelgorath at first, so im glad Byf could clear this up, that Leviathan-Eater, Bane of the Ammonites was indeed not Kelgorath.

I think that’s already the case amongst every known enemy or friendly force in our system. Look at Saint-14, the Vex whom have traversed all of time needed to create a special Vex just to kill him and even showed a semblance of respect to his body. He was also known as the equivalent of a boogieman to the Eliksni. That’s just one Guardian! We have broken Crowns, Disciples, Gods, and even Time itself. Yeah I’m very certain the Young Wolf is the hype to many… This Leviathan Eater is a statistic waiting to be added to our list of feats…

The more I listen to Immaru, the more I think he is the Ghost equivalent of a bitter old man hating everything around him. As Eris said, he is not Savathûn and his insults/threats do not have the "you are dancing to my tune" aspect that Savathûn's lines had. There was some lore about that from back in Witch Queen, iirc it roughly boiled down to him believing Humanity took the Ghosts, and the Traveler, for granted and that without both of them their whole species would be extinct. That resentment was then ratcheted up into outright hatred when we started crushing Hive Ghosts en-masse.

I really like when voiced characters acknowledge non-voiced villains. It'd be nice to have better villains in seasons that we actually fight, but I get that's probably a problem for Episodes to be more equipped to tackle, theoretically. Having simple acknowledgements of villains like with Xivu acknowledging Kelgorath and now the Leviathan Eater, or Eramis with Praksis in Seraph really goes a long way to help make these unqiue looking bosses feel important outside the lore.

I believe that the Traveler actually blessed the Ammonite with light powers rather than just harnessing the light to use weapons. Why? Because of the context that Witness gave us during the Sathona cutscene in Witch Queen. The Witness said that it wanted to claim the Krill before the Traveler was able to claim them first. Why the use of "claim"? If the Witness truly wanted to, it could have just Taken the entire planet, or at least the key forces of the Krill dynasties for itself, as, at the time, none of the Krill were capable of withstanding its influence because they were so meager. The Witness was afraid that it could lose a potential force to the Light. It doesn't really seem as if it was feasible to Take Lightbearers, which is why the Witness used The Hive as its proxies to destroy the Ammonite instead, otherwise, it could have just Taken the Ammonite instead. I believe that the Ammonite were indeed actual Lightbearers through sheer connection to the Traveler and its blessing, whereas we humans were forcefully given the Light because it was a last ditch effort because there was not enough time to cultivate and invoke the Light into an entire civilization, thus sending the Traveler to sleep. It was only then, when we defeated the Heart of Darkness in the system when the the Traveler began to heal because it was a display of our power to prevail over Darkness, which encouraged the Traveler to arise from its slumber. Ghaul would then later coerce the Traveler out of its sleep once again out of desperation, but also proved that the Light could be channeled into anyone given the enough volume and time to cultivate it, much like how we can invoke Darkness without an external body like a Splinter.

There are two very large problems with your theory. The first is that the Witness very obviously CAN'T just Take whichever Lightless sap it feels like. Why is this obvious? Because there are non-Guardian NPCs around, notably including Caiatl and every single one of the Cabal wearing her colors. If the Witness could just Take whoever, Caiatl would be a shadow with a spotlight for a face in Torobatl's aftermath. Instead, she's a rallying figure for Cabal survivors throughout the known galaxy. The second problem is that we literally just switched over to Season of the Witch from Season of the Deep, and Sloane's situation showed very clearly that the Light does not make one immune to Taking.

Based on the Hive I'm 99% sure her Transformation will change, or at least should, as she gets stronger. All 3 of the original Hive Gods went through multiple metamorphosis' over their thousands of years alive gaining power. So I would assume that Eris will go through a second Metamorphosis amd become much larger later in the season or possibly next season.

my guess is that the ghosts and by extension the guardians are a result of the hundreds of failed attempts by the traveller at making powerful warriors of the light culminating in the traveller in making a radical decision of splitting tiny shards of itself and then passing its power directly trough those shards in to chosen people who are capable of using it.

I believe and hope we dont kill xivu as some boring seasonal mission. Both oryx and savathun got their own DLC its only fair xivu gets one too. I think that the end of this season will simply but her out of commision for the time being while we go kill the witness

@ 12:10 you touched upon a theory ive had for a while now which is that ghosts are not just manifestations of the light. The stuff they can do and their very nature contradicts this. For starters ghosts have personalities which is something that the light just shouldnt be able to do because that would link back to consciousness. Also, with the fact ghosts are completely unique to the sol system only coming about after the collapse has occured which is when the dark and the light mixed. therefore, it wouldnt be too weird to think that ghosts must have some form of darkness within them in order to be "alive" the way they are as the only life that the traveller seems to create is plants nothing on the level of a sentient being. This would also show how we differ from the ammonite as they wielded the light and the light alone whereas the guardians wield both light and dark and could possibly be the edge that we need to win. This would also explain why the witness is so easily able to commandeer our ghost the numerous amount of times they did as the ghost must have a consciousness which would then relate back to the darkness.

Another piece of evidence for this being the case would be that there is a limited number ghosts. If the traveller was able to make more there would be no reason not to but its clear theres some catalyst (the darkness) needed in order to create them

ANOTHER piece of evidence for this would also be the entire raid of nezarec being ressurected using both the powers of light and dark showing that bringing someone back from death( the ghosts main ability) is a unionisation of these powers

You can do good things for a very bad reason. And you can do very bad things for an equally good reason. Good and evil are very subjective. And it’s important to remember that ones. The Leviathan Eater gave me a run for my money, constantly attacking me while I tried to fend off against the hive knights. He was no pushover and you're right, he's no Kelgorath either. This is a TRUE champion of Xivu Arath, while Kelgorath will forever be the whetstone to sharpen her blade, the Leviathan Eater is someone you CANNOT make any mistakes whatsoever.

This week's got me looking forwards to whatever hitches Xivu will put into our plan, maybe Ir Uulxal annihilated a leviathan but it looks like modern guardians are much stronger than the Ammonite were so that can't be it. Now that she's talking to us again we can actually confirm that our tithes are going to Eris in vengeance rather than Xivu by default, by week 3 it's a solid plan. Really hoping our up close look at sword logic and ritual stuffs will let us better understand whatever natural force it's a hive perversion of.

My continued complaint about how the writers treat Xivu Arath is that they build her up as a force to be reckoned with by having the characters refer to her as this massive threat, only for the actual story to see he defeated time and time again. Easy fix I would’ve implemented? Season of the Deep. Have us stop the ritual to Take Ahsa only to see Xivu Arath kill her before we glean the information we need. Better yet, if we want to build up the threat of this season, then we could catch a glimpse of the Leviathan-Eater being the one to do the deed. Now we find ourselves with no choice but to fall back on Savathûn, someone formerly affiliated with the Witness who stole the Veil and placed it on Neptune. It just sucks that she’s treated as much of a punching bag as Kelgorath when Savathûn had years of battles against us that were a mixture of victories and defeats.

And how savathun essentially makes her seem like the little child in comparison to this God of war. Like I'm not really afraid of her outside her head is on backwards and is crazy about sword logic. Outside of that I don't really see her as a God of war yet. Where savathun was a real hyped moment to finally get her to show up in game

This is kind of a problem with all of Destiny 2's recurring villains, they rarely ever get actual victories over us. Even Savathun was victim to this as many of her schemes were failures or just ended up amounting to nothing. This could be averted if Bungie were willing to give Xivu-Arath or any other antagonist goals that aren't just 'This season/expansion I'm going to destroy the Last City!' Which places them in a situation where for the game to actually continue they have to lose.

i feel like even if the ammonite were as or more powerful in the Light, our bomb logic has strengthened us beyond anything a single species is capable of, we have a Hive God, a Cabal Empress an Eliksnii Kell Splicer and the Queen of the Awoken fighting alongside us. and we now have our own Leviathan since last season too, so whether they were equal to us or not, they are not equal to "the friends we made along the way"

Im a little confused by this dialogue and lore now. Did bungie forget that in VoD that Rhulk was the one who killed the leviathan. Its a whole line of dialogue that he speaks so how did both the light eater and rhulk kill him if they werent present at the same time?

Rhulk only actually injured the Leviathan, he took out one of its ribs (I think?), once the krill became the hive they ventured out to where the ammonites were (a moon of fundament), and where the Leviathan had hidden

Immaru doesn’t know who he is talking to, we have killed beings “greater” than us multiple times, i’d say we can do it for sport already. Wish Dragons that have their own Paracausality, Vex minds that could have and did wipe some of us out from history, Xivu’s so powerful brother that she desperately wants to avenge and his countless children, her sister who we just killed and are trying to resurrect and her Taken beings that were also really powerful, survived the black fleet 2 times with better success the second time and we have killed 3-4 gods greater than Xivu, a Worm god, the god that literally made it so that she would exist as what she is now, a god that could terrorise everyone’s minds and Calus (he was pretty pathetic tbh). There is nothing Xivu can do to us, only sending us her little candy she calls “Leviathan-Eaters” as if any of her forces could hold up against us. All these things would make someone that’s supposed to be a “good leader” tremble, yet Immaru’s ego doesn’t allow it.

I’m guessing the way that the Ammonite were able to wield the light was similar in a way to how the forces of the Witness wield Darkness. I don’t think that their mastery over it was even close to being on par with the Witness’s forces but I can believe that in some way their very technology could have used and focused the light. I mean we know very well from weapons, and lore, and even the enemies we fight that while Paracausal forces do not have to follow the physical laws of the universe, they can still become bonded, entangled, contained, and harnessed with/through/in physical matter and energy. So if the Witness could embed the Darkness into the very stone of the Pyramids why couldn’t someone else do the same with the light?
