I hope that the core activities will get some love in lightfall. It’s devastating seeing them collect dust, continuously not receiving enough of Bungie’s attention, especially crucible. It’s disappointing that there’s no new strikes, maps or interesting game modes. I loved fortress in Iron Banner, had an amazing time with it (even with the bubble titans lol). I liked the small twist with scorpius turrets and a high value zone. It was a nice small breath of fresh air for me. However, I feel Bungie could’ve executed the game mode in a much more exciting way.

Crucible gets all the attention every season, what are you talking about? It may get clumsy, uncoordinated attention that doesn't improve much if anything but at least it's still attention. Meanwhile other than adding a strike or two during the expansion the only attention strikes get is the occasional seasonal activity being thrown into the strike play list with them being heavily weighted over actual strikes. Gambit gets a clumsy attempt at an overhaul once a year, if that.

And yeah the campaign was obviously amazing. I absolutely loved Haunted. The Leviathan definitely should've been used more but containment was very enjoyable. I wasn't looking forward to Solar 3.0 since I only used it for Well before. But Starfire and classy really made it fun. Didn't really play Plunder. The tonal shift, the story and I think burnout contributed to why I skipped most of that season. Ketchcrash and Expeditions weren't as good compared to the other season activities for me. Arc 3.0 was fun but felt kinda underwhelming on my Warlock compared to the other elements. Seraph has been amazing so far. I don't think Ive played this much D2 since Arrivals. Battlegrounds is great and challenging but it has gotten boring. Ikelos is so dam good, I missed this gun so much. Seraphs Shield was good. It a cool little mission and also served as like a tutorial for DSC and I would like to see more of that. I also started playing all my classes around when GMs became available (I only played Warlock before) and goddam am I having fun. Great video, I definitly felt burn out after going for the grindy seals in haunted and plunder back 2 back + getting the event seals done aswell. I also wasn’t playing much pvp at that time, which really is refreshing when pve is that grindy. This season I took a different approach, I only played the seasonal activity when I was told to with the seasonal story and played a lot more pvp again. Also I focused in pve on lowmans/flawless raids that I haven’t done in the past. Felt very refreshing from all the seasonal grind. Unfortunately I’m done now with all the raids. So I’ll probably run into a problem on what to do if the lightfall seasons will be as dry as the wq seasons. I personally think the best thing bungie could do, is not doing any seasonal content for 1 season and just bringing back destiny 1 and 2 strikes & crucible maps. These playlists feel so stale. I literally never q into regular strikes. In only play some grandmasters to stock up on ascendant shards and guild my seal (+ help some friends if they need it) that’s my whole interaction with the strike playlist nowerdays. And in terms of pvp which I play a lot again recently, it just feels so frustrating playing the same maps (especially midtown, disjunction and bannerfall) over and over again.

Risen was a good complement to what was happening in Lightfall. Haunted's story was good, containment was OK but most people burnt themselves out by using the absolute worst way to farm Opulent weapons by running around the Laviathan opening random chests. No stupids, you run containment to get Opulent keys. I came into that season a month late and was still able to get all of the Opulent weapons crafted and I only ran maybe 3 containments a week. Do your containment, run a sever mission, make sure you get the bonus target for more focusing energy. Usually by the end of your third containment you've gotten an Opulent key or two. Quit trying to farm everything all at once without stopping. Plunder would have been fantastic if treasure hunts weren't a thing and Ketch Crash was the main activity to focus loot. Throw in a couple different ships to fight instead of the same Fallen Ketch every time and it would have been remembered fondly. Risen has been awesome

Great review overall, though I hard disagree on Haunted. Solar 3.0 destroyed so many warlock builds overnight. I know that Starfire is stupid strong, but other than that there isn't much going for it. And making 2 out of 3 aspects completely PvP focused was a really bad move. Nightmare Containment was probably the worst seasonal activity since Wrathborn Hunts. I loathe 6 man activities in general, but this one takes the cake. A glorified public event where sometimes the game wouldn't even match you with enough players to complete it. And after that you play Sever missions, which despite all the community praise, was the narrative equivalent of bad reality TV. "Oh no! I'm dealing with trauma!" Literally 1 week later. "Lol, over it." I really don't understand why the community insists that Destiny's story is good. It's boiled down to emoting next to characters as they drone on in my ears for about 8 years straight. Even if you had the single greatest story ever created by man, bad story telling methods will ruin it. Sorry Destiny. I really don't give a shit about Zavala's struggles. However this season has been tough for me as I haven't really enjoyed playing PvE and absolutely hate PvP which was my favorite part of this game. The Witch Queen DLC, especially Risen in a way was fun. I loved playing like it was The Taken King. Haunted was fantastic till Plunder. Imma say this, I don't know if Plunder just made me realized how boring D2 is or its just not the season I'm excited or enjoyed. Just a season that is just grinding and grinding until your fatigue. King's Fall was the make up for me, I like the encounters and such, the only problem is that they should've gave Adept weapons from the Master version more unique and given them enhanced perks (Yes, I know they are giving adept raid weapons enhanced, just felt like the should've done it early.) Overall, Plunder wasn't good and was just stressful. Seraph was fine, I would've seen it as amazing and exciting if I wasn't feeling fatigued after Plunder. Seraph was still an improvement. Seraph was great. I love this season. Honestly up there with chosen or splicer for me but the other 3 were so bad I probably will look back on seraph as bad. 16 was a D+ tier. 17 was like a C- 18 was an F and 19 is B. But I also think splicer (14 S tier) was better than chosen (13 A- tier) so yeah... I might as well rank hunt (12) and lost (15). Hunt for me personally is a C+. But I only put it that high because that's when I really started playing destiny and I really had no idea what was going on or what a good season was and by the time it ended I was just grasping the concept of what was seasonal content vs expansion. Lost would be like A- but I gotta rank it as B-. The fact it was 6 months long sucked. It was just that period between week like 12 and like week 22 where there was no content or story or anything just sucked. However particle deconstruction was a super cool mod and that kinda redeems that season. Plunder was bad on so many levels. But the one that really ruined it for me was the resilience bug and the fact it wasn't fixed for day 1 kings fall. That was one of those things that made me almost quit playing. Had it been on void or stasis then done but the fact it was arc which was the new subclass revamp that season made it so annoying and then Bungie was in no rush to fix it. But they rushed to disable heavy grenade launchers when those were bugged at the same time... As a titan main I was angry. I wanted to use tcrash on bosses in the raid or storm grenades. Then we had gyrfalcons disabled for like 1/2 the season. They also randomly nerfed eager edge that season completely unannounced. Then you had the seasonal title grind which was by far the worst one I've done. Killing 50 of those treasurer's or whatever they were called was a pain. Then they went and changed it to 10 in the final couple of weeks. Which was the right call but they should have changed that when everyone was pointing it out telling them it was stupid. Not wait 10 weeks. It truly felt the most disconnected Bungie has ever been from the game. I was forming a conspiracy the devs know the game is ending after the final shape and that they had given up caring for the game. But this season it feels like Bungie does care and it's hard for me to believe I thought that way. However my new Bungie hate thing is "Bungie devs don't like titans or even play them" I could write another novel ranting about that but this comment is already like 500 words too long lol sorry.

We definitely got way more potent weapons this year theoughout all of the seasons. While the red border grind isn’t the best the rewards are weapons that will almost always be useable. Almost all of risens weapons are good or great, all the opulent weapons are must haves imo and some of the haunted weapons are standouts (looking at bump in the night), plunder is likely the weakest set of weapons but tarnished mettle is the best current arc scout and really other than the two heavies the weapons are decent, and as for seraph again almost every weapon is great or at least interesting.

Yet we still grinded and slayed the same old enemy types we've been trying to slay for almost 10 years now using our reskinned guns and then repeats using our new reskinned strand abilities during lightfall. 😊 Yey D2

I'm of the opinion that every single Witch Queen season was A-Tier. It still floors me that people were saying Plunder was even remotely as bad as Hunt and Worthy.

Great video, written verry well, and you definitely highlighted all the important things that happened over the expansions. I definitely think that the seasonal structure needs to change because i feel like every season is the same as the last. It is always a short and boring weekly quest along a main playlist activity and a longer, more story based mission. The level desighn feels really lazy, and i get burnt out really quick. I hope that light fall makes some significant changes.

This should explain how this year has went, incredible Witch Queen launch, broken day 1 raid, people who wanted to grind….did….those who didn’t want to complained……to prove that point I intentionally did not craft any of the sought after weapons until last week, & i now have every “crafter god roll” for lightfall……my opinion is not popular, but i think that people who grind hard & play regularly deserve some things that took time to obtain & not something that was later given a “catch up” method

Witch queen and risen spoiled us this year. Best dlc and an ok season. Haunted and plunder are some of the worst seasons tho and that made me disappointed. Seraph is an ok season but it still has me worried for next year. Lightfall is gonna be great and probably better than witch queen. But the seasons after lightfall are going to suffer

Season of the Haunted was one of my favorite Destiny seasons, the story was amazing and emotional in ways that no other destiny stories managed to do, Duality is by far my favorite Dungeon and the Derelict leviathan is a great destination in terms of having good loot, MMO features such as world bosses and more and I wish Neomuna captures some of those elements, Plunder was the disappointment for me but then Seraph was absolutely amazing, especially that ending and the return of Rasputin.

Honestly I’m mad at myself for letting go of destiny this past year. It was only this weekend that I realized how out of touch with the game I was asking: “when did ikelos get voltshot? I want to say one thing. All that Bungie add to game has a catch. Transmog - grindy, event cards - additional grind and money spending. Continuing the trend im actually afraid that Guardian Rangs will be overgrindy and boring. Like first 3-4 levels are simple, like do 25 partols, 10 heroic public events, etc. 5-6 levels - 3 raids, run 20 strikes, 20 crusible matches, 30 gambit matches(because f u). 7-10 levels - complete 50 raids, 100 crucible matches, own 3 seals, craft and level up to lvl20 15 weapons

I agree with Plunder and maybe Haunted a little bit (I loved Haunted, I think it was an A-Tier season and pretty solid overall, especially with lore), but I cant at all agree with Seraph. Seraph is one of the best seasons we've ever received and it's in my personal top 3. I get that this was made before the final cutscene (which boosted it to my top 3) but even before that it was an S-Tier season. The story was 10/10, the loot was 9/10, the exotics were 9.5/10, and the missions/seasonal activities were a 10/10.

Personally this how the year was for me: Seasonal content:(I'll add my seasonal ranks too , i feel those represent my feel towards the seasons pretty well) -Risen(273): C (serviceable, Witchqueen carried it hard) -Haunted(202):A (great story, "new" patrol area, fun activities) -Plunder(188): F (decent story, decent activities, but this season was the one season where Bungie gave us constant middle fingers until they realized we'll leave if they keep doing it) -Seraph(257+): S (best season of the year, rich with content, not at all frustratingly easy nor frustratingly hard) Raids- -Vow of the Disciple: S+++ (Best raid experience I've ever had, Rhulk is by far my favorite Raid boss and raidboss fight, he feels alive, not at all just a stationary object with a gun like most previous D2 raidbosses) -King's Fall: S (Never played D1, but just like VoG, I love it, it gives that larger than life experience that I've come to expect from every raid, aged beautifully) Dungeons- -Duality: B+ (It's good but the enemy density in some encounters is infuriating, like you got the mechanics nailed down to a T, but then you lose because you suddenly get target locked by every enemy in the room, eveb though there's 2 other players with you) -Spire of the watcher: A (I love it, it's fun, but for a warmind facility I found a lot of workplace safety violations in the platforming areas, and random holes in the flooring through which you can slip through, not at all OSHA approved, also that Kentucky Fried Cunt at the end pisses me off) Season events: -Guardian Games: B (I had a lot of fun, but as always the event was rigged from the start like the previous ones.) -Solstice: D I hate that they no longer allow you to have 2 separate ornaments for both non-glow and white glow. Felt like a waste of my time as i liked the armor better without the glow. I won't even bother with it next year. -FotL: F- (The biggest piece of dogshit this year, Candy became useless, quest was bugged, the grind was unreasonable) -Dawning:S+ (Will always be a good Bright dust farm) Iron Banner; Rift- A (I actually had fun, it felt refreshing prioritizing a goal rather than kills) Eruption - C (First week was Abysmal, i was so infuriated because the first two matches I could barely walk out of spawn because the eruption dude kept rotating between spawns with every match, 2nd week was fun as hell.) Fortress- S++ (As a titan main I'll say this, can't beat them, join'em. I run arc and solar mostly but Fortress made me appreciate strategy, defense and timing with void titan- you may now send me hate mail) Competitive: D- (just like trials, fun if you go Freelance, otherwise if you go solo in regular, kiss your ass and ranking goodbye. Unlike trials, the rewards are not worth it here. Just play trials, least you get more than just 1 unique gun and cool armor.) Miscellaneous: Telesto "Event": F- (Biggest insult to the community at large. I was hoping I'd at least get to press "E" on a scannable object by having Telesto equipped to earn the emblem, but no, they were so lazy that all they did was slap a code on Twitter) Eliksni Quarters event: F (just the Spider doing an elaborate money laundering scheme, complete waste of time. Thanks for giving me red borders for weapons I've already unlocked passively during the first 5 weeks...i didn't see even 1 spec of bright dust). Seraph mission: S (Enjoyable, replayable, never done Whisper or Zero hour back in the day , I've heard those were much better, but I don't have anything to compare Seraph to, so this is my personal experience with it). This year was indeeed a mixed bag.

Lmao you’re so dramatic, it’s hilarious. The Telesto ‘event’ was just a fun nod to the gun and its reputation and you felt insulted? You seriously need to grow up. Modern gamer takes are so embarrassing.

I've stopped playing after non stop grinding since D1 beta, feels strange stepping away. But it has to be done the game has become so generic, forcing people to buy the most expensive edition to obtain an exotic and catalyst. New skin on the same content. I really enjoy the premium expansions for the campaign, but after that it is just the same game. I hope people enjoy lightfall. But I'm signing out😁

This year's seasons felt like a noticeable amount of "2 steps forward, 1 step back" there were good stories, fun (for a time) modes and missions, and loot out the wazoo, but for all of that, it was robbed noticeably by the grind, dead space in content for said grind, a samey structure that is showing age and the omnipresent creep of increasing monetization. Imo, altogether, not atrocious like D1Y1 or D2Y1 were, but definitely more pale than D2Y4. 7/10 if I had to quantify it, which is a big drop from the 9 I would give the Witch Queen itself

Risen was for sure the best of all of the seasons for me. Seraph is good and it's for sure the best season weve gotten since plunder or haunted at least gameplay wise. Risen had a fun gameplay loop which wasnt too grindy or repetitive and offered a good deal of weapons and gameplay. Thoughtless, Sweet sorrow and who could forget Peace of Mind? PvP was also really great (aside from Loreley), it's meta was good and you could see a lot of great weapons being utilized by players. There were a lot more subclasses used but invis hunter still dominated in some way. I think overall Risen and Seraph were the best since they had more to offer than Plunder and Haunted. This year was truly underwhelming but I hope that Lightfall will bring in a Vex themed season as they have been revealed in the Lightfall trailers. My guess is that itll be Vex themed and maybe tie it into the witness since Vex are literally darkness robots.
@MysticCasey Жыл бұрын
Outside of the Subclass 3.0 updates for each season just looking at the seasons themselves it's like Shadowkeep all over again. Risen: The expansion and it's grind got me playing this season and not the seasonal content itself. Haunted: Actually played the seasonal content because it was good but the story was lacking. Plunder: The definition of "They had us in the first half." Seraph: The lore was great, story is going strong with questions and theories. Content isn't bad but it feels like I'm playing for Lightfall and not the current season.
@Nailfut Жыл бұрын
Risen did its job, it was the "best" season to launch alongside a major dlc. I enjoyed both Haunted and Seraph, more for the story admittedly. Plunder was mediocre. My main issue here is that all seasons felt like they put the minimum effort required to make "yet another standard Destiny 2 season". Beyond Light finally showed us the potential of the seasonal model and the Witch Queen expansion upped its game too. Then? It seems Bungie just said:"aight, back to basics, now just do your usual stuff, you liked it so much last year after all!". I really wonder how much Light 3.0 reworks took away from developing better seasons. Not much, there are multiple teams inside Bungie, ofc. And yet, this year felt like they focused more on giving us new ways/power/builds to just repeat the same exact old content. Besides WQ's campaign, Duality was the peak of this year for me. Unfortunately though, as a hardcore Warlock main, this year did more bad than good to my playstyles. Only one new exotic really changed things up, Osmiomancy Gloves. Secant Filament and mainly Fallen Sunstar just exist to compensate for what Light 3.0 took from us Warlocks. Rain of Fire is niche for now, but it might turn really good in Lightfall. Now, the elephant in the room: Dawnblade. - Bottom tree, the pve explosive maniac and its synergy with Dawn Chorus? Completely gone. - Middle tree's nuances were doomed once they decided to give healing nades to all classes removing the ability to turn any nade into a healing one. Well, at least the Lumina+Boots of the Assembler build would still work as it used to, right? Of course not. So, what's left of the healer identity? Oh, right, Well of Radiamce, how cool... - Top tree basically is all that's left. Two out of three aspects are TTD abilities, wtf? Solar warlock is just an incomplete monster that lost most of its identity. In return, it got the strongest warlock build ever with Starfire Protocol, which became mandatory all throughout the game, making everything dull as a return: imagine being the only Warlock in a full Master Knightfall run and still managing to have your Well ready all the time thanks to this build, while you just use nades to do all the work. Rant over. Great campaign, Year 5 underdelivered.

Haunted had a good story just weak gameplay. Plunder sucked. And seraph somehow ended up being the best season of the year

Season 17 was the beginning of the end... Of my interest in seasons for the year. Agree or disagree, I hate solar 3.0 (for warlocks). We are now out healed by other classes because of healing nades. And the bottom tree was completely removed. Then to make things worse, top tree got split into 2 aspects and then... A grenade aspect.....Yaaaaaaaay. The only reason it hasn't completely fallen into irrelevancy, is because of well and Starfire. If neither of these existed or we're good, it would see no use. Especially in PVE

Risen was an add-on to the expansion, Haunted had the best story beats, Plunder was the dullest, and Seraph was QOL fiesta to tie a bow on the whole year of content.

Bungie needs to promote their content more. They didn’t care because after the success of Beyond Lights year, everyone preordered WQ so they already sold it why bother with marketing. The light 3.0 also sucked effort away from the seasons. Those updates as far as I know were free and came whether you bought the season or not. But it made it so the actually seasonal content was less polished. I’m mainly disappointed with the story telling. This whole seasonal year the stories have been quite bad. I dont even touch the holiday events, and have stopped playing PvP because of these seasons.
@firstlast6437 Жыл бұрын
Started the current season a few days ago and it really put into perspective just how bad the season quest design is. It goes: do random stuff for 5-10 minutes to get 500 materials, run one single heist battleground, go to the helm and listen to badly written dialogue (wtf happened to the exo strangers accent??), go do a 5 minute mission in a reskinned area with a reskinned boss, go back to the helm and listen to more bad dialogue and then repeat 6-7 more times. I feel really bad for people who played from the start of the season because you had to wait a week for each one of these terrible quest steps.
