@@akallstar5 I imagine Edwrd Norton energy from Fight Club. Snarky, witty, and mentally elusive. Too bad it started to fall apart once he was relentlessly pressed and bullied by Dan and Destiny. It's like all the cringe was magnified. People can say the tears and freakout were all a part of a bit, but I don't think he's that good of a performance actor. He's probably just a good sport about it all afterwards.
@brodymercer81663 ай бұрын
In my opinion, what makes me think this is a bit is how hard Destiny and Dan were drilling him. They seemed to be trying to push hard on him out the gate. If it was authentic wouldn't they be more charitable to him? It never came across to me that Destiny disliked Jreg prior to this, but he comes across like he hates him lol. Like Jreg says "Performance Art". And the fact this is even being discussed is exactly the outcome Jreg would want.
@akallstar53 ай бұрын
@@brodymercer8166 Nah, I think the irony was intentionally kept ambiguous by both, which allows both parties to both try and get what they want from eachother (in the hosts case, engagement with the politics, in jregs case, lightheartedness), while at the same time using the implied irony as a cop-out. I also think it was kept ambiguous because both parties have difficulty reading eachother. This is why i mostly hate irony, its pussy-strats imo, and the worst part is that if you use it you can claim to be an intellectual when youre actually just kind of weak. It should be used sparingly, not as a crutch.

Can someone explain why Americans pronounce Israel is "isreal" every single time?
@Imsosappy3 ай бұрын
My guess is it's because we don't have many similar pronounced words. I would also argue most people don't say is-real, even though it sounds like it, I hear is pronounced as Is-re-al/is-re-ul when said on it's own. But when people are speaking in sentences they truncate and mush together the syllabus, so it's harder to hear especially if you're not a native speaker. Similarly, when I hear British people say Israel is sounds like they are saying Is-rail. But if I really listen or hear them say the word on it's own, it sounds more like is-ri-el. Again, I think it's just being kinda mushed in speech.

The most interesting thing I got from this was the fact that nobody here had a great command of the facts of the current situation in the Middle East, and yet I hear them discuss the topic ad nauseum. While I can understand not having the flag of a faction memorized, to my own sensibilities; not knowing whether or not members of Hezbollah sit on the Parliament of Lebanon would tell me that you do not have a firm grasp of the issue. Without belying my own interests, I'd consider Hezbollah and the Lebanese Parliament to be key players in this rapidly unfolding regional conflict. A surface-level understanding of the conflict is understandable for someone who is merely a voter or a concerned citizen, however a much deeper understanding of this issue is required to make an accurate and more importantly useful analysis of it. I understand that the point of this video is to poke holes in JREG's whole persona and his social project however, I couldn't help myself but to point out the intellectual miscarriage of discussing geopolitics in a public forum with an impressionable audience that trusts you, without fully understanding the complexities of said geopolitics. My run-on sentence and grammatical heresy aside, I appreciate Destiny for his skills at conveying Liberal ideas and I consider him a vital ally to the American Left, Liberal movement, and Progressives for his rock solid critiques, effective messaging, and debate acumen which help further Liberal causes and mindsets by providing poignant critiques and salient attacks of and on the Right. I only say this because I know he can do better.
