@dat1bitch-
@dat1bitch- Жыл бұрын
I really don't understand his rant about aesthetics. His house is an ascetic? That's what he is arguing? He is tearing down a straw man. They're talking about the millions of dollars he has. I get that giving all his money away isn't socialism. But he is also saying "the amount of money you have doesn't matter". That sounds so unbelievably out of touch. So Jeff Bezos could be the best socialist in the world if he said socialism is good after selling all his stock, and that's it? Because that's essentially what Hasan is saying. You can be the richest man in the world. And you can just hord it and say people should be socialist. As long as you don't exploit people buy having employees, you can hord money and be socialist. Idk it's really hard to swallow from him.

For the car part, using your handbreak is useful not for the gears itself but to alleviate stress on the parking pawl, the little hook that stops the gears from rolling when you put your car in P, if you leave it uphill only in P it can break after some times and you're gonna find your car at the bottom of the hill

The reason why you would use a handbrake with an automatic car on a hill is so that way you can relieve the stress of gravity from the transmission. What you’re supposed to do is throw the handbrake on before you release the brakes, after you’ve moved to P.

@@mohammadmohammad1118 The parking Pawl is literally a component of the transmission, I don't understand why you're saying it's not. @jeffwells641
@jeffwells641 Жыл бұрын
@@Zalzaroth Also you've got the e-brake usage slightly wrong. If you put it in P before you release the brakes on a hill the pawl can get jammed, so what you do is hold the foot brake, set the e-brake, release the foot break, and then put the car in Park. This has the e-brake taking most of the load, while the P ensures the drive train stays locked in place without putting undue stress on the relatively small locking pin. Edit: the way you described, with E-brake, Park, then release foot brake, is still probably a lot better than just using Park, I'm just saying you'd relieve more stress on the Park mechanism if you set Park last instead.

I think Destiny needs to talk to a driving instructor or a mechanic or both xD When you are taught to drive (at least in the UK) you are taught to bring the car to a complete stop, engage handbrake, change the gear to neutral, turn off engine. I'm sure there's a variety of reasons to do this both mechanical and non-mechanical. If you are parking on an incline you leave on 1st if facing up a hill and Reverse if facing down the hill so that if your handbrake fails you have the gears as a backup. With an auto you put in Park and engage the handbrake (or parking brake as some cars call it). My current car engages the parking brake automatically when I put it in Park. So Destiny brings the car to a stop, changes gear to 1st and turns off engine? What does he use his hand brake for? Drifting round corners? xD

You say he should talk with a mechanic, but respectfully as a mechanic I have to say that you are the one who needs explaining. Your knowledge is really really limited, as you are clueless about that it doesn't matter which way car is facing up or down a hill, you can leave it in first or second or even third gear, theres no reason in putting it in reverse. Leaving your car in gear is way safer than handbrake, becouse handbrake is just a piece of wire (you know the same technology they use in cheapest bicycle brakes) that holds a 900kg-2ton car And uk driving instructors/driving exams is the last place you should seek driving advice. Like they tell you to shuffle steering wheel like an idiot, which is soo slow.

@@juanmejiagomez5514 it’s to prevent drivetrain damage if the vehicle is bumped, pushed, or pulled. Hopefully if your vehicle is bumped by another vehicle, your handbrake with keep the wheels locked down that they skid along the asphalt and don’t turn the wheels. Turning the wheels while parked in gear (such as being bumped or towed) sends energy backwards through the drivetrain from the wheels, to the axles, into the differential, the transmission, the clutch, and finally the engine. While tough, any sudden application of force to these components while at mechanical disadvantage could damage any weak points in the system. The risk is honestly low and serious damage is unlikely to happen, but that’s the accepted reasoning behind not leaving your car in gear.

About the parking/handbrake situation: That hill/incline thing is true. If you're in a manual and put it in 1st or reverse gear (depending on the direction, of course), you're putting 1-2 tons on that gear. It _shouldn't_ be moving, but depending on the exact situation (you're getting out, putting more weight on the gear, someone or an animal could lean on the car) it might simply turn over once, and since it's on a steep incline, it'll continue to turn, and once in motion, it won't stop, as the gear doesn't provide enough resistance to the weight once it's moving. The handbrake will prevent that from happening. It certainly was more dangerous for cars of old, but it's still a probability. And you don't want to be the guy who let their car go down a hill without a pilot hitting things, animals, people - and destroy your own property while at it. It's really simple physics and common sense.

Direction doesn't matter and you never put it in reverse. First second or third. regarding the parking brake argument he had, the reason you dont leave a manual in gear while youre parked even on an flat surface is that it puts the weight of the vehicle on the synchros, which is unnecessary stress. synchros are designed to have stress while moving, not while the vehicle is left parked for long periods of time. its better for the transmission to be left in neutral while the parking brake is engaged as it prevent unnecessary and premature wear on the synchronizer gears. regarding automatics, a parking brake is good when you leave it in park because it puts less stress on the parking dowel (a tiny stud that slips into a parking gear inside the transmission that locks the entire thing to allow it to be in “park). this is especially good for when parking on a hill as the transmission wont have the entire weight of the vehicle against the dowel. the recommended way to park is to come to a complete stop and engage the parking brake and then shift into park, as then your brakes are taking the weight of the vehicle instead of the parking dowel

Not that it’s very important… but concerning the parking brake discussion around the 40 minute mark… it is definitely better to use the parking brake when parking on a hill In a manual transmission, the vehicle “probably” won’t roll away if left in gear, but if it’s a heavy vehicle…. It definitely might without the brake And for an automatic… it’s easier on the transmission. When you put an auto transmission in “park”, a piece of the transmission called the parking pawl engaged and locks in with the output shaft to keep the vehicle from moving. But it’s basically a single mechanical tooth engaging with a gear. It’s a lot of weight for that pawl to support on a hill especially in a heavy vehicle If you have ever parked a heavy vehicle like a truck on a decent incline without using the parking break, it can actually take a bit of effort to pull the gear selector out of park. And it’ll usually pop loudly. The parking brake just makes life easier Not something you probably ever have to care about if you live in Florida, but it’s a normal consideration in any mountainous area of the country

You need your feet on booth the clutch and accelerator, and release the hand break while managing the other two so you don’t roll backwards. Also the gear box isn’t “taking the weight of the car” when it’s moving it forward on flat ground, the wheels are. The force on the gear box is the mass of the car times it’s acceleration which is typically less that 9.8 meters per second.

What a perfect representation of socialism in action. Look at any big regime shift to communism in history, and how it resulted. There's always some guy or guys claiming to care about the working class that are just in it for the power. Now fast forward to capitalist America, we have people who have learned to make a business enterprise off socialism and make millions for themselves while never having to lift a finger to help the working class they claim to care about. They just throw bread crumbs to the hungry crowd once in a while, and that keeps them passive. They pocket the donos 99% of the time, but do you remember that 1% of times that they did a charity? Their fans sure do. I'm pretty sure Hasan and Vaush are going to be the death of the socialist movement in the US. There will still be some socialists around, but it'll go back to being a fringe political theory that no one takes seriously. Remember the videos about how people fell down the alt right pipeline? Stay tuned, soon we'll be seeing socialist pipeline videos. I've already seen people admitting that they were duped, or pressured into taking the label without fully understanding the difference between socialism and social democracies, and I suspect there are some who do it for the aesthetics, or to fit into certain peer groups.
