Ah yes. I know a guy who ponied up thousands of dollars, worked in multiple jobs, and gained a scholarship because he saw New York in a crappy, outdated television that lost its color capabilities twenty years prior. 'Cause that's a thing that totally happens.

The point about self-selection he makes at the beginning and the end is a good one. In between, he seems to get sidetracked a bit. Sneako's mindset comment is essentially correct - African immigrants (and a lot of immigrants in general) are self-selected in part to have a certain mindset.

Unfortunately, people are that stupid and tribal. I'm Haitian. My dad was awesome and we were upper class. As an American, I was under the assumption the goal was to destroy the African American community. And we succeeded. Now you're complaining about them? I grew up in Queens so it was so foreign to me most people just have black, white, Spanish and Asian. In Queens, growing up, I would have no idea what culture you're talking about because there were like 10 subcategories for each and they are each very different. You couldn't crack good jokes with just skin color. Some people even say there was no systemic racism which is wild. The judicial, legislative and executive branches all tried to destroy their communities. Look at how crack was treated vs cocaine and heroin. Hell there was even Woodstock but $5 of crack was mandatory prison for years. And there's tons of evidence suggesting that the crack epidemic was sparked and contained in their community intentionally by intelligence agencies.

> As an American, I was under the assumption the goal was to destroy the African American community. ? Friend, I don't know how hyperbolic you meant that to be. And even who? The US? Your dad? Explain.

@@neonsamurai4604 Nice. I don't know how diverse it is now, but in the 80's and 90's as a kid, I swear to God I had friends from damn near every single background.

Bro just said the mindset of the people coming over is way greater than that of African Americans lol. What a great way to destroy his own argument.

No…he’s saying that you can’t compare all the millions of black African Americans in the US to the small minority of Africans that migrate to the US. You wanna compare, compare all of African Americans to the current state of Kenya or Nigeria as whole not just the people who driven enough to educate themselves and relocate. That’s not the average Kenyan citizen is his point

Like immigration especially from countries like Africa or overseas aren’t random. It’s usually the best of the best from whatever country who’s educated themselves and come strong driven families who relocate to the US. So ofc they usually outperform. Props to them though
