But I just point out that they don't just conserve the status quo, in many ways they want to overturn status quo if it interferes with elitist control. IE they don't want to conserve the current labor rights we have and worked broadly during the 20th century to overturn it. They don't want to conserve the tax code but usually want to change it to benefit the elite.

Swede here. The study that Rachel points to basically concluded in very that "outdoor street prostitution _seemed_ to have decreased" after the laws were passed. This has been widely criticised due to the fact that street prostitution was never the most prevalent form of prostitution in sweden to begin with, _it's freaking cold here_ . This coupled with the fact that selling is not in fact criminalised here renders her argument moot.

For example, it's possible that a 15 year old could have no ill psychological effects of having a sexual relationship with an older person. But it's prevalent enough at that age for such outcomes to manifest that we as a society make a blanket ban on that activity rather than risk a case by case basis. It's also really hard to quantify psychological damage in many cases as it can vary so much between individuals, which is another reason we just use a zero tolerance policy to circumvent such problems.

It seems like right-wingers also want sex work to be banned because they want people who engage in it to not only be legally punished but also punished by other societal dangers. They would love to see sex workers being exploited by pimps, abused by clients, risk being infected with STDs, being outright murdered or raped, etc. rather than provide their service in a safe and secure environment. There's ample evidence that legalizing and regulating current social taboos related to issues like abortion, drug use, or prostitution reduces harm overall but they either ignore this evidence out of pre-determined ideological reasons or because they actively wish harm upon people who make different life choices than themselves. They don't care that people still do sex work or use drugs even when those things are banned. Rather, they want to see those people suffer.
